Is it they need to be from the same co. or they need to be that AND the EXACT SAME model or what. I want a good sli combo and for FV4 just fine. Because I'm about to buy a STB made a year before my STB and the model numbers and so on seem to be different. And the chips look a little bit different on the back. I really apprecate any help here.

the company who did it isn't important in SLI, the only important thing is that BOTH Voodoos needs to have the same ammount of memory (both 12MB or 8MB)So it can be 3dfx, Diamond or a Maxi gamer etc.

I am sorry but it is hard to understand your English. But yes if you have a STB and get another STB both with 12mb or both with 8mb you can use SLI. Okay there are some patches to use different brands with another but I do not suggest because a have no experience with this.

Hum, if you mismatch 2 different Voodoo2's, that can be difficult : like a Diamond and a Creative Labs.
If you mismatch 2 Voodoo2's same manufacturer but one with 8 mo and one 12 mo, you will get 2*8 mo.
The only Voodoo2 which was able to run with any other Voodoo2 was the Wicked3D Voodoo2.

Well that probably explains my problem here. I hooked up my creative 12meg. and my STB 12meg and whenever I try to start using Glide64 (n64 vid. plugin)I hear an error sound and my monitor goes to standby. I can hit esc. and get back though. It works if I disable SLI detect but that's probably because its NOT using sli.
I tried going to DXdiag to see if they both are 12meg(that's what I was told on ebay) but I could'nt find anything. I also thought it was an IRQ problem since I had to swap pci slots for my modem to get it reconized.
But I guess I need to go buy another matching card then or maybe a WICKED3D card. I found this STB card on Ebay-he thinks it's 12megs. Does anyone know if they only made 12meg cards or did they also make some 8megs.?
Thanks for your help. I've spent weeks trying to get this all going-hopefully soon I'll be done.

do you think i can SLI my canopus pure3d II lx and my magic3d II 12mb? any reccomendations bacause i cant look for another voodoo2 board here...

procerus

For Windows 98 there are special mismatched SLI drivers.  But not for Windows XP.  So one option would be to try Windows 98 if you can.

Quotecanopus pure3d II lx
hum, a V2 with a very special design
Frankly, i'm not sure because if i remember [:p] the Pure3D II was able to use the 3dfx reference drivers but with some changes in the AUTOEXEC.BAT or the card locked up sometimes.
Never i saw a Pure3D II in Sli with an other card, always with an other Pure3D II.
The best of course would be to try (and with the special mismatched SLI drivers as said Procerus).

Why isn't is possible to SLI two Voodoo2 compatible Video Cards with different ammount of memory?

I want to try to SLI Diamond Monster 3D II 8MB with Creative Voodoo2 12MB.

I think that the only problem that may occur is that the game/program will not be able to determine memory size correctly, but what do I know[?][:I]:D

oh, yeah, I read some old article about Voodoo2, it says that there are suppose to be Voodoo2 AGP. Is this true, or they just call them Voodoo3?

just wondering:

Is this right? (first picture is not very clear)

quantum 3d has... I counted 12MB of memory and 3 Video processors, 2 on one side and 1 on another?

If I got something wrong, don't judge me too hard [:o)] ...just trying to learn.

BTW, I decided to get a voodoo 3/4/5 video card, can you suggest which one of these is better towards performance, compatibility and quality? 3/4/5 ?

I've heard that there are a lot of problems with voodoo5 and it is not compatible with some games...

Trust me, this Card exists really : this is a V2 AGP (1x) 12 mo.
Mine is like this one i linked. :)

About your choice, go for a V5 5500 Agp (or Pci, if you're lucky ; with this one, never you will have a problem with the slot Agp).
Don't forgot that you need with a V5 5500 AGP, a mobo supporting Agp 2x, 3.3v.
This is really easier to start a game with a V5 than with a V3 because the first owns all that the second doesn't own (32 bits, large textures, 2*32 mo, DXTC...)
The drivers ?  you have the choice.
Running the last games, can be difficult sometimes : so you need 3DAnalyzer (in order to emulate the T&L) or MesaFX (OpenGl 1.2 or higher) but that will stay sometimes difficult (e.g no VoodooCad supports agp texturing) and some new games will not start.
Don't forgot that for many people, the V5 is now an "old" card, limited in performance.

The best : you try and you make your opinion.

I think that I'm gonna get voodoo5 5000 pci, I'm gonna get a new computer soon (in a month or two) and I need a good video card (for old games) to go with ati radeon vc. Unless the motherboard has 2 agp slots, I will have to choose the pci version.

If you do happen to come accross a Dual-AGP motherboard at a somewhat reasonable price, let me know, I'm very interested in buying one of these, but I can't seem to find them anywhere. I want to get my V5 AGP running again!
