Hi everyone,

I recently downloaded MDK from www.the-underdogs.org and then downloaded the 3Dfx patch from http://www.3dgamers.com/games/mdk/downloads/ and it works no problems using a Voodoo5.

But when I went to use it on the Voodoo2, everything was going great until I went to save game (by pressing F2) then the screen went black and I have to reset the PC.

Has anyone got this going on the Voodoo2?

I guess that you tried also the patch for the F2 key problem ?

Yes, that "patch" is actually a replacement "mdk95.exe" which fixes a specific bug in the European "mdk95.exe" version that prevents the user saving during cut scenes and freefall (like the US version does).

Later Shiny released two 3D versions "mdkd3d.exe" for direct 3D support, and "mdk3dfx.exe" with native glide support.  Both versions have that F2 save key fix in them anyway.

I use mdk3dfx.exe and mdkd3d.exe, but not mdk95.exe.

Oh well, I guess I can only get the mdk3dfx.exe to work on the voodoo 5500.  I'll have to settle using the mdkd3d.exe on the SIS6326 card instead of the voodoo2 :(

It sounds that the mdk F2 save key crashed always in the glide version but no problem in the D3D version...

Yes...except the glide version works OK on the Voodoo 5.

It works with a Voodoo 5, interesting
Mdk needs glide2.dll, so what's the version in the Voodoo 2 driver and in the Voodoo 5 driver ?
And indeed, the solution would be perhaps to find the right glide2 even if the patch is old (1997).

So perhaps I should try the glide2x.dll packaged in the Amigamerlin R11 on the Voodoo2 PCs?

p.s. I've tried the Radeon glide2x.dll found at http://www.shifter.sk/helppage/default_fix.htm but F2 still crashes the system.

Well, this glide2x.dll translator is not very "compatible" with old games using glide2 but if i understand you, here it works with this game and a Voodoo 5 ?

Well I tried it and it crashed on the F2 key the same as the Fastvoodoo 4.0XP gold glide2x.dll did anyway so it's not a fix.

Meh, I'll continue using the d3d version with the geforce2/radeon 9200SE - looks good enough, but not as good as the Voodoo2's do!
