I have installed my old voodoo 2 and your drivers (fastvoodoo2 4.0 gold edition),but ist is impossible for me to set the voodoo 2 as primary driver in my display settings. This is important for me because I wanted to use the glide drivers for playing Final Fantasy 7 that produces artifacts with my Radeon 9800 pro.In the configscreen for this game there is no entry for the voodoo 2,so I suppose it depends on setting the voodoo 2 as primary display device in my display settings. The voodoo 2 is actually recognized by my system under advanced settings, but there's no possibility to "activate" it.Could the Catalyst Control Center ,which I use,be the problem?Plz help!

ok,I have the same setup, and I got it working just fine, here is how:
-first,uninstall the fastvoodoo2 driver (add or remove programs in the control panel)
-get this special driver: http://voodoomage.uw.hu/indexeng.html
-install that driver (maybe you should back up the registry, the driver has no uninstaller)
-you have a radeon.get radeon glides, unpack the archive to your windows\system32 folder, overwrite old files
-the driver will create a voodoo2 icon on your desktop.now drag the ff7config file on the voodoo2 icon and release it.the leauncher should appear, set up the graphics selection in it, then drag ff7.exe onto the voodoo2 icon and release and ff7 should launch..

Funny, with the fastvoodoo2 driver and the Radeon as primary driver and software renderer FF7 now works without artifacts, but without bilinear filtering as well.
Anyway, thanks, but the first link you postet doesn't work.I'll try again later and reply if I got it working.I'll keep on trying....

Hum, Final Fantasy VII only supports D3D and Software rendering.

[:(] I get ammerror occuring when dragging the ff7.config on the icon.It says that "the order "S_RST.exe" is either written wrong or does not exist" (I translated as well as i could,my english has gotten worse :)).In the config menu I can still only choose the primary display device and the software renderer.
Anyway, when starting FF7 by dragging the exe onto the icon,I get the same error occuring. The game launches, but i still got no bilinear filtering, you can see all the pixels.Any idea what went wrong?

@ Nightbird: Nope, thats wrong,FF7 used to work beautifully with glide apps on Win9x.

I'm really pissed of now.I have already tried to install Win 98 as second OS,but failed because that crap wouldn't eat my SATA driver.I tried several voodoo 2 driver, and it still wouldn't work. Why in hell couldn't they create proper voodoo 2 driver for XP,or a proper ff7 patch for XP?I'd like to bath all this **** in fuel and burn it and kick it and....huh,all that because of ONE game!
Well,thx anyway,i go to bed now.gnite!

How do you know that you run FF7 in glide ? ;)

Wow,as far as I remember i could choose between primary display device and 3df voodoo 2 glide. But if you're right and it's only working with direct 3d this could be the reason for all this crap.
There's no chance to get my voodoo 2 working with direct 3d under direct x 9.c,is it?
CRAP!!!!

FF7 needs only DirX5 if i remember.
DirX9 is always backward compatible so try to do like ps47 said.
If that doesn't work, that will be in software mode with your Radeon  under XP or under Win9x with your Voodoo 2.

well it worked for me in that config I mentioned.make sure you install the driver correctly, and follow my instructions.it has worked for some other people as well..ff7 uses voodoo2 D3D,and it should wrk with that special driver.try repeating the procedure step by step..
