I am using the Voodoo 3 2000(8MB).:D
How to open the anti-aliating of the OpenGL games???????[:I]
Always powered by:
CPU:Pentium III 500Mhz
RAM:256 RAM
Video card:
Voodoo 3 2000(8MB)
Driver:
AmigaMerlin V2.9  (9x/ME)
DirectX 9.0c
MesaFX-6.3(the lastest version)

Voodoo 3 does not posses the feature of Full Scene Anti Aliasing.
I'm sorry but you will have to do without. Try to raise the games resolution, ofthen raising from 1024 to 1280 costs less then
activating FSAA :)

Don't bother. V3 doesn't support any anti-aliasing. I have only seen antialiasing in action (with V3) in the glide tests included in the source files and it was spectacular[8D]. But I think the program has to tell the card what to antialias (or sth like that I think[:I] ) and that whould be difficult. Maybe Tomb Raider (1) has V3 antialiasing[?]

That is a bad news!!!!!!!
[:(]
But, I have some questions about the KoolSmoky's V.control.
The questions:
What will happen if I turn the LOD bias to the sharpest??????
Also,
What will happen if I turn the LOD bias to the blurrest??????
Also,
What will happen if I enable the 3DFX watermark???????
Also,
What is the different if I set the 16dpp z-precition(someting like that) "fast"and "faster"????????

you will see a nice 3dfx logo at the right bottom os the screen:) (only in Glide & OpenGL apps)

You mean,
When we play the game, the nice 3dfx logo will show at the right bottom????????[?]
Isn't it????????[?]

Not exactly.
The key is "SSTH3_ANTIALIAS" for Edge Anti Aliasing (under D3D).

Can I the voodoo4/5 driver[it call the"emulation..."(something like that)]??????????[8)]
Can I use the voodoo4/5 funcation(FSAA)or just the "Edge Anti Aliasing" after I install the driver of OpenGL of my voodoo3??????? [|)]

i'll take a 256x256 texture with a complete set of mips as an example: 8/7/6/5/4/3/2/1

the hardware automatically computes the mipmap to use, based on the distance... but depends...

at Glide level:
sharper LOD means the hardware is told to use the biggest mip available in place of certain smaller mips. for example: biasing lod with -3 means the hw will use: 8/8/8/7/6/5/4/3. biasing lod with -8 means the hw will use 8/8/8/8/8/8/8/8. the textures will be crispier, but it will introduce texture aliasing artifacts. also, the number of texels to lookup in the rasterization process will be higher (if you're fillrate limited, it will be a bit slower)

blurrier LOD means the hardware is told to use a smaller mip in place of certain bigger mips. the textures will exhibit texture blurring artifacts. but, the number of texels to lookup in the rasterization process will be smaller (if you're fillrate limited, it will be a bit faster)

at application level:
well, it depends what the app understands by lodbias. the app can tell opengl to limit the min/max lod and can send to the hw only those mips that will ever be required. this can save up texture space.

uhmm... just a hoax?

Well, I haven't seen any application at all (except those i mentioned) that is supporting V3 antialiasing. I suppose it's as usefull as NCC...[:o)].
Teff, the LOD bias setting is the most usefull tab in the 3dfx tools or vcontrol. I personally use -1 D3D and -2 Glide. Takes no performance hit, is a bit more vibrant and actually D3D is a tad faster[:0] (based on personal benching)

V3 lacks the HARDware to do FSAA

Expendable, Drakan, GPolice have in their setup the antialiasing option.

Frankly, if that works with a Voodoo3 and with the edge antialiasing enabled, i think that you'll get a little visual improvement.

A lot of games have AA option in the menu, but does it work with V3? No,  I don't think so[:o)][V]
