3.0 Performances Analysis
To benchmark the drive we have used SiSoftware
Sandra Lite, and the gotten results are really good under all the points of view. The results line up with the data declared from the producer and in many cases they overcome them, outclassing good part of the pens drive and of the flash drives currently in commerce. SiSoft Sandra's test is based on writing, reading and erasing operations on files with variable dimensions (512B, 32kB, 256kB, 2MB and 64MB). To get results how much more truthful possible we have used two different configurations.
Test Systems
Intel Pentim 4 3.2Ghz, 1024Mb DDR, Windows XP (NTFS, USB 2.0);
AMD Athlon XP 2100+, 1024Mb DDR, Windows XP (NTFS, USB 1.1).
3.1 Testing on USB 2.0
Of course Gizmo! Overdrive gives best performances with USB 2.0 interface. The most important Sandra output is combined index: it comes from reading, writing and deleting data speed and from test file size. So this index means a average value on our testing sessions.
3.1 Testing on USB 1.1
The performances on USB 1.1 are limited by the maximum transfer rate of this interface that can tranfer data at max 1.5 MB/s. However for a more complete test we include also the results of the tests on USB 1.1. The results have a value especially in the point of view of backward compatibility of the product.
In the next page we will
compare Gizmo! Overdrive scores with two competitors.
These are the Kingston DataTraveler Elite and the Corsair Flash Voyager
pen drives.
