Intel: ecco i tablet da 7-inch e 10-inch con cpu Atom e OS Android
Intel ha annunciato ufficialmente in queste ore nuovi sistemi di tipo tablet dedicati agli studenti. Equipaggiati con i processori mobile della linea Atom e configurati con il Sistema Operativo Android di Google, i nuovi tablet sono implementati in accordo al design reference realizzato da Intel per questa tipologia di prodotti.
Più in dettaglio, Intel ha messo a punto due differenti soluzioni caratterizzate dalla dotazione di un display da 10-inch e 7-inch rispettivamente. Il tablet con schermo da 10-inch utilizza il processore dual-core Intel Atom Z2460, ed è equipaggiato con Android 4.0; assicura inoltre un'autonomia superiore alle 6.5 ore.
La soluzione con display da 7-inch ruota intorno al chip single-core Intel Atom Z2420 ed è in grado di vantare una durata della batteria superiore a quella tipica della soluzione a duer core, e tale da sfiorare le 8 ore, oltre alla configurazione di Android 4.1.
Entrambi i sistemi includono una camera anteriore e una posteriore, degli altoparlanti e un microfono, una stilo, la suite Intel Education Software, un kit di applicazioni che aggiunge ai tablet numerose funzionalità, tra le quali quelle di e-reader e painting, e il pacchetto McAfee Mobile Security
Intel introduced an education-focused tablet reference design, featuring an Intel Atom processor and the Android* operating system code-named Ice Cream Sandwich*. The Intel Education tablet is specifically for education, featuring student-friendly designs that empower students to create compelling content. Features including front- and rear-facing cameras, a stylus, integrated speakers and microphones bring interactive, multimedia content into learning.
The tablet is fully equipped with Intel Education Software, a comprehensive suite of applications including an e-Reader, science exploration and data analysis application and painting tools. It also has management software that provides teachers and administrators with tools to protect students and manage technology.

The Intel Education tablet with a 10-inch screen has a dual-core Intel Atom processor Z2460, an Android 4.0 operating system, more than 6.5 hours of battery life, and weighs 1.5 lbs. Intel also offers an Intel Education tablet with a 7-inch screen, single-core Intel Atom processor Z2420, an Android 4.1 operating system, nearly 8 hours of battery life and weighs .78 lbs. Both tablets are equipped with McAfee Mobile Security*. The screens have even been designed with shock-absorbers, so they are cushioned in case of a fall.
