AMD ha annunciato ufficialmente la disponibilità commerciale in tutto il mondo della linea di video card AMD Radeon HD 7800, il cui lancio è stato effettuato circa due settimane fa (cfr. questo documento per approfindire, ndr).

Come sottolinea lo stesso chip designer statunitese ("Launches Graphics Triple Play: 3 GPUs in 3 Months"), con l'arrivo sul mercato delle gpu Radeon HD 7800, AMD ha sostanzialmente offerto agli utenti tre gpu (o meglio, tre linee di gpu), basate sul nuovo processo di fabbricazione a 28nm, in tre mesi, considerando l'arrivo delle Radeon HD 7900 a gennaio, quello delle Radeon HD 7700 a febbraio e quello delle Radeon HD 7800, oggi.

AMD ricorda nel comunicato stampa le principali tecnologie che caratterizzano l'offerta che ruota intorno ai prodotti AMD Radeon HD 7900, AMD Radeon HD 7800 e AMD Radeon HD 7700, a partire dalla nuova architettura Graphics Core Next (GCN) e arrivando alla compatibilità con il bus PCI-Express 3.0, passando per AMD Eyefinity 2.0, AMD PowerTune e AMD ZeroCore Power.

Tutto è pronto, in casa Advanced Micro Devices, per accogliere la prima gpu a 28nm proveniente dalla concorrente NVIDIA, tipicamente indicata con la denominazione dell'architettura che implementa, ovvero "Kepler".

(2) AMD Eyefinity technology works with games that support non-standard aspect ratios, which is required for panning across multiple displays. To enable more than two displays, additional panels with native DisplayPort connectors, and/or DisplayPort compliant active adapters to convert your monitor's native input to your cards DisplayPort or Mini-DisplayPort connector(s), are required. Support for five simultaneous displays may require complementary products compatible with DisplayPort 1.2 Multi-Stream Transport.
