NVIDIA ha annunciato oggi la prima unità di elaborazione grafica (GPU) per videogiocatori della serie per notebook GeForce 500M.

Il processore grafico GeForce GTX 560M è la scelta ideale per i notebook di gioco dal momento che offre un'esperienza senza compromessi: si tratta infatti una GPU che consente di giocare alla risoluzione di 1080p ai giochi DirectX 11 più nuovi e appassionanti. Inoltre, nei notebook dei principali OEM del settore le GPU GeForce GTX saranno affiancate per la prima volta dalla tecnologia NVIDIA Optimus.

"Le GPU GeForce GT 560M combinate con la tecnologia NVIDIA Optimus permettono di ottenere 50 frame al secondo in Duke Nukem Forever e cinque ore di autonomia della batteria con Microsoft Office", ha dichiarato Rene Haas, General Manager della divisione notebook di NVIDIA. "Insomma, il massimo della potenza e della portatilità."

Le GPU NVIDIA sono le uniche a supportare la tecnologia NVIDIA Optimus, che aumenta la durata della batteria attivando e disattivando automaticamente la GPU in modo che sia in esecuzione solo quando occorre davvero. La straordinaria praticità della tecnologia NVIDIA Optimus è integrata in più dell'ottanta percento dei notebook con GPU GeForce serie 500M. La tecnologia è infatti stata adottata da tutti i principali OEM di notebook.

Le GPU GeForce GTX 560M permettono di sfruttare al massimo le DirectX 11 e offrono più performance per Watt della generazione precedente. Di conseguenza, garantiscono un frame rate più alto e più dettagli a parità di durata della batteria. La potenza delle GPU GeForce GTX permette di giocare a risoluzioni di 1080p pur mantenendo attive le tecnologie avanzate che fanno la differenza tra le GPU GeForce e quelle dei concorrenti, fra cui:

• Supporto della tecnologia NVIDIA 3D Vision, la migliore tecnologia 3D per i notebook
• Supporto della tecnologia NVIDIA PhysX, che consente di integrare effetti fisici di in tempo reale nei videogame
• Supporto dell'architettura NVIDIA CUDA, per le applicazioni di GPU Computing

Le GPU GTX inoltre supportano anche la tecnologia NVIDIA SLI, la piattaforma multi-GPU più scalabile del settore, che permette di raddoppiare le prestazioni di gioco e prevedono anche il supporto degli apprezzatissimi driver per notebook NVIDIA Verde.

Per i notebook sottili e leggeri NVIDIA ha inoltre presentato una nuova GPU GeForce GT 500M entry-level, la GeForce GT 520MX. Le GeForce GT 520MX offrono migliori prestazioni, un supporto più ampio e una serie di funzionalità nettamente più ricca¹ rispetto alle soluzioni grafiche integrate, oltre a rappresentare un netto passo avanti rispetto alla precedente GeForce GT 520M.

Alienware e Toshiba stanno per presentare notebook basati sulla GeForce GTX 560M e sulla tecnologia Optimus. ASUS, Clevo, MSI e altre aziende presenteranno notebook basati su GeForce GTX 560M. ASUS, Samsung e altre aziende offriranno notebook basati sulla GeForce GT 520MX.

NVIDIA today unveiled the first gaming notebook graphics processing unit (GPU) in its award-winning GeForce 500M Series of notebook GPUs.

The GeForce GTX 560M graphics processor hits the "sweet spot" for gaming notebooks by delivering a no-compromise gaming experience at full 1080p resolution in the hottest new DirectX 11 titles. For the first time, leading OEMs will also be offering GeForce GTX gaming GPUs with NVIDIA Optimus technology.

"The GeForce GTX 560M and NVIDIA Optimus mean gamers get 50 frames per second in Duke Nukem Forever and five hours of battery life in Microsoft Office," said Rene Haas, general manager of notebook products at NVIDIA. "That's real power and real portability."

Available only with NVIDIA GPUs, NVIDIA Optimus technology enables extra-long battery life by automatically switching on and off the GPU so that it runs only when needed. The smart convenience of NVIDIA Optimus technology is designed into over 80 percent of GeForce 500M Series notebooks and is used by every major notebook OEM.

GeForce GTX 560M GPUs are "DirectX 11 Done Right," and offer even more performance-per-watt than the previous generation, with faster frame rates and more detail with the same battery life. The power of GeForce GTX GPUs means gamers can play at full 1080p high-definition resolutions with the advanced technology features that set GeForce GPUs apart from the competition, including:

• NVIDIA 3D Vision technology support, the #1 3D technology for notebooks
• NVIDIA PhysX technology support, for in-game real-time physics effects
• NVIDIA CUDA architecture support, for GPU computing applications

GTX GPUs also support NVIDIA SLI technology, the industry's most scalable multi-GPU platform for doubling gaming performance, and are also supported by the highly-praised NVIDIA Verde notebook drivers.

For thin-and-light notebooks, NVIDIA also refreshed its entry-level GeForce GT 500M GPUs with the arrival of the new GeForce GT 520MX GPU. GeForce GT 520MX offers better performance, wider support and a more advanced feature set than integrated graphicsⁱ and offers a step forward from the existing GeForce GT 520M GPU.

Alienware and Toshiba will be offering notebooks featuring GeForce GTX 560M and Optimus technology. ASUS, Clevo, MSI and others will be offering notebooks featuring GeForce GTX 560M. ASUS, Samsung and others will be offering notebooks featuring GeForce GT 520MX.
