After Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, now Unreal Engine 3 is for Web too
The Epic Games Chief Executive Officer, Founder and Technical Director Tim Sweeney showed off recently the Unreal Engine 3 (UE3) technology running inside an Adobe Flash-based environment at Adobe MAX 2011, the well-known Adobe's
annual conference for developers, designers and managers working around the Adobe's world.
As you can see with the following official video and screenshots, Epic Games, using the latest Adobe Flash Player 11, made a technical demonstration of its first-person shooter Unreal Tournament 3 (UT3) running inside the new
Flash-based player with unprecedented levels of both graphics and performances (please consider that Unreal Tournament 3 is a cutting-edge game developed in origin for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC high-end platforms).
Getting a similar result is now possibile by the new hardware-accelerated Stage 3D APIs of Flash Player 11: according to Adobe, those APIs allow 1000 times faster 2D and 3D graphics rendering performance over previous Flash Player 10. So
the developers can now deliver console-quality games, with smooth 60 frames per second rendering, on several Web-oriented platforms, like Mac OS, Windows and Smart TV: on the other side, the final users can run the new games simply by a
Web browser.
