Attraverso il comunicato stampa presente più in basso nella pagina, Transcend Information ha annunciato la commercializzazione di un nuovo drive a stato solito o Solid State Drive (SSD) da 2.5-inch (cfr. la foto seguente), caratterizzato da una interfaccia di tipo SATA II e da una capacità di memorizzazione pari a ben 192GB.

Il produttore dichiara per il dispositivo una velocità di lettura che può arrivare a 150MB/s mentre quella in scrittura raggiunge i 90MB/s (entrambe sono state misurate nella condizione di buffer saturo). Dalla tecnologia (MLC) impiegata per la realizzazione del disco, che non include evidentemente componenti meccaniche, come per gli HDD, deriva la latenza bassissima, essendo pari a 0.2ms.

Tra le feature del SSD vi è il supporto della tecnologia ECC (Error Correction Code), che garantisce l'accuratezza del trasferimento dei dati, senza penalizzare le prestazioni.
