Con il comunicato stampa allegato di seguito ASUS ha lanciato la motherboard Striker II Formula, nuova soluzione - progettata ed ottimizzata per il gaming high-end - appartenente alla ben nota linea Republic of Gamers (ROG). ASUS ha scelto NVIDIA come partner principale per la realizzazione di questa scheda madre: è infatti prodotto dal chip-maker statunitense il chip-set - o MCP (Media Communications Processor) - nForce 780i SLI intorno al quale ruota la Striker II Formula.

Il chip nForce 780i SLI è dotato di supporto per i processori Intel Core 2, ed è già pronto per l'utilizzo con i prossimi processori di Intel a 45nm, caratterizzati da un valore per il FSB pari a 1600MHz e oltre. Inoltre, rende possibile l'implementazione di topologie multi-gpu a tre vie, ovvero è compatibile con la tecnologia 3-way SLI di NVIDIA.

ASUS ci ha messo del suo con le tecnologie Extreme Tweaker, che stabilizza in caso di overclock permettendo la variazione della tensione di alimentazione di componenti cardine come North Bridge (NB), South Bridge (SB) e RAM con incrementi di 0.02V, COP EX (Component Overheat Protection - EX), che protegge i componenti overcloccati dall'eccessivo surriscaldamento, e EPU (Energy Processing Unit), che modula il consumo di potenza in funzione del carico elaborativo.
