Con il cominicato stampa allegato di seguito AMD ha annunciato il nuovo brand per PC AMD LIVE! Ultra, destinato ad identificare tutti quei sistemi, sia in ambito desktop che notebook, capaci di offrire la massima esperienza possibile nell'ambito dell'intrattenimento multimediale legato in primis alla riproduzione dei contenuti in alta definizione, o High-Definition (HD).

Al fine di raggiungere questo obiettivo AMD fa ampio utilizzo delle piattaforme ben note con i nomi in codice di Spider e Puma, dedicate rispettivamente alla implementazione di soluzioni desktop e notebook per così dire "AMD LIVE! Ultra compliant", basate sui processori di classe AMD Phenom e sui prossimi AMD TurionTM Ultra mobile. Il peso della elaborazione grafica grava naturalmente sulle gpu ATI Radeon HD.

Ma i computer di nuova generazione proposti da AMD non hanno peculiarità molto spinte soltanto dal punto di vista dell'hardware che li costituisce: il produttore statunitense ha infatti sviluppato il software AMD LIVE! Explorer, un vero ambiente progettato per integrarsi al meglio su Windows Vista e capace di dare tridimensionalità a funzionalità di stampo ormai classico come l'esplorazione del Web, la visione di un programma televisivo o la consultazione del proprio archivio audio e video, ora raccolte in un'unica window 3D.

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- January 8, 2008 --AMD (NYSE:AMD) today announced AMD LIVE! Ultra, a new PC brand to help consumers identify forthcoming desktop and notebook PCs designed to deliver the ultimate visual entertainment experience. AMD LIVE! Ultra-branded PCs will be powered by AMD multi-core platforms for desktop and notebook PCs, codenamed “Spider” and “Puma”, respectively. Thanks to innovative AMD technology, such as AMD Phenom 9000 Series quad-core processors, forthcoming AMD TurionTM Ultra mobile processors and ATI Radeon HD graphics, AMD LIVE! Ultra PCs will be packed with more computing power plus cutting-edge visual performance to meet consumers’ demands for increasingly rich, high-definition (HD) digital entertainment.

As an ideal companion to next-generation AMD LIVE! Ultra PCs, AMD LIVE! Explorer software is an easy-to-use PC application designed to deliver a unique entertainment experience on AMD LIVE! PCs. AMD LIVE! Explorer
The AMD LIVE! Explorer application allows consumers to easily browse their music, photos and videos in a 3D moving carousel format, or surf the Internet, while simultaneously watching live television or video files stored on their PC.* For a truly unique entertainment experience, AMD’s OEM and system builder customers will have the option of customizing the AMD LIVE! Explorer browser with their own applications to be bundled with an AMD LIVE! or AMD LIVE! Ultra desktop or notebook PC.
