Apple ha lanciato ufficialmente lo smartphone high-end denominato iPhone 5s. In virtù dell'adozione del nuovo processore A7, Apple promette prestazioni al top della categoria per il suo iPhone 5s, definendo di classe desktop l'architettura a 64 bit del suo nuovo smartphone di punta. Apple ha presentato oggi iPhone 5s, l'iPhone più innovativo di sempre, con il nuovissimo chip A7, che lo rende il primo smartphone al mondo con un'architettura a 64 bit di classe desktop, per prestazioni ultraveloci in palmo di mano. iPhone 5s ridefinisce la migliore esperienza smartphone al mondo con nuove, fantastiche funzioni racchiuse in un design incredibilmente sottile e leggero, fra cui una nuova fotocamera iSight da 8 megapixel con flash True Tone e introduce Touch ID, un modo innovativo per sbloccare facilmente e in totale sicurezza il telefono con il semplice tocco di un dito. iPhone 5s include iOS 7, il più significativo aggiornamento di iOS dall'iPhone originale, potenziato per la tecnologia a 64 bit e arricchito da centinaia di nuove strepitose funzioni, fra cui Centro di controllo, Centro Notifiche, Multitasking migliorato, AirDrop, app Immagini, Safari e Siri potenziate, e iTunes Radio.

Il nuovo chip A7 dell'iPhone 5s porta per la prima volta l'architettura a 64 bit di classe desktop in uno smartphone. Con prestazioni di grafica e CPU fino a due volte superiori, praticamente tutto ciò che gli utenti fanno sull'iPhone 5s è più rapido e meraviglioso che mai, che si tratti di aprire le app, modificare le foto o sfidare gli amici in giochi dalla grafica evoluta. E tutto con un'autonomia della batteria eccellente. Apple ha progettato anche iOS 7 e tutte le app integrate in modo da ottimizzare le prestazioni del chip A7. iPhone 5s è il miglior dispositivo di gioco portatile, con l'accesso a centinaia di migliaia di giochi disponibili sull'App Store, l'architettura a 64 bit del chip A7 e il supporto per OpenGL ES versione 3.0. iPhone 5s permette di visualizzare effetti grafici incredibilmente ricchi e complessi, prima possibili solo su Mac, PC e console di gioco.

Ogni iPhone 5s include il nuovo coprocessore di movimento M7 che raccoglie i dati forniti da accelerometro, giroscopio e bussola per alleggerire parte del lavoro del chip A7 e migliorare l'efficienza energetica. Gli sviluppatori possono accedere alle nuove API CoreMotion, che sfruttano il coprocessore M7, e creare app di fitness e attività ancora più belle e precise, ben oltre le possibilità offerte da altri dispositivi mobili. Il coprocessore di movimento M7 misura costantemente i dati di movimento dell'utente, persino quando il dispositivo è in standby, e preserva la batteria per il contapassi o altre app di fitness che utilizzano l'accelerometro tutto il giorno.

iPhone 5s introduce Touch ID, un modo facile e sicuro di sbloccare l'iPhone con un semplice tocco. Integrato nel tasto Home, Touch ID utilizza un cristallo di zaffiro tagliato al laser insieme al sensore touch capacitivo per scattare una foto ad alta risoluzione dell'impronta digitale dell'utente; quindi la analizza per fornire letture accurate dell'immagine da ogni angolazione. La configurazione di Touch ID è facile, e il riconoscimento migliora ogni volta che lo si usa. Il sensore Touch ID riconosce il tocco del dito, perciò si attiva solo quando necessario, evitando di intaccare la durata della batteria. Tutte le informazioni sull'impronta digitale dell'utente sono crittografate e archiviate in maniera sicura nel Secure Enclave all'interno del chip A7 dell'iPhone 5s; non vengono dunque mai archiviate sui server Apple ne' ne vene fatto il back up su iCloud. Touch ID può rappresentare inoltre un modo sicuro per l'approvazione degli acquisti su iTunes Store, App Store e iBookstore.

Con iPhone 5s è ancora più facile scattare splendide foto, con la fotocamera più utilizzata al mondo. La nuovissima fotocamera iSight da 8 megapixel ha un'apertura più ampia da f/2,2 e un nuovo sensore più grande con 1,5μ pixel, per una sensibilità migliore e prestazioni eccellenti in condizioni di scarsa luminosità, il tutto per foto ancora più belle. Questi potenziamenti, insieme al processore ISP - image signal processor - progettato da Apple integrato nel chip A7 e la nuova app Fotocamera di iOS 7, assicurano un autofocus fino a due volte più veloce, un tempo di acquisizione delle immagini più rapido, stabilizzazione automatica di foto e video, e una gamma dinamica migliore. iPhone 5s introduce il nuovo flash True Tone, il primo al mondo non solo su un telefono, ma persino su una fotocamera: il flash regola in maniera variabile il colore e l'intensità per oltre 1000 combinazioni, così anche le foto scattate col flash appaiono più naturali. iPhone 5s include inoltre una nuova modalità Burst Mode, video Slo-Mo con 120 fps, una nuova videocamera FaceTime HD con prestazioni superiori in condizioni di scarsa luminosità e le chiamate FaceTime solo audio con iOS 7.

The Touch ID sensor recognizes the touch of a finger so the sensor is only activated when needed, preserving battery life.
