11.10.2005 - ASUS Introduces PVL-D Serverboard Series | |||||||||||||||||||||
Taipei, Taiwan; October 11, 2005 – ASUSTeK Computer Inc. (ASUS), the worldwide leader of motherboards, today unveiled the PVL-D Series serverboards, which support the latest Intel dual-core, hyper-threaded Xeon DP (Paxville) processor with a two-processor platform to deliver the power of eight CPU threads. "Multi-tasking capability for higher productivity is crucial for any businesses, especially for companies that are on the rise," said Bernard Cheng, Director of ASUS Server Business. "The PVL-D Series was developed with corporate productivity in mind, providing system performance improvement with a dual-CPU architecture, dual-core processing and Hyper-Threading Technology. For an affordable price, users can experience immediate performance gain." 8 CPU thread s provide immediate performance enhancementThe PVL-D Series support a dual-Xeon DP dual-core processor platform with Hyper-Threading Technology, independent 2M L2 cache for each CPU core and 800MHz system bus. For the cost of a dual-CPU serverboard, users can enjoy the benefits of eight CPU threads. The serverboards further leveraged advanced 64-bit computing, which provides 16GB of memory address, to deliver another 46% system performance increase compared to conventional solutions. Advanced layout maximizes airflow With the streamline designs for the memory slots, Northbridge and power supply unit connectors (located on the side), the serverboards maximize airflow and ventilation within the system for superior heat dissipation. The CPU and VRM (voltage regulation modules) are located at the center of the boards, allowing the fans to aim directly at the critical components for efficient cooling. Flexible expansion & reliable data protection With one PCI Express x8 slot, two PCI 32bit/33MHz slots, four PCI-X 64bit/133 slots, and one SODIMM ZCR RAID 5 socket (on ly PVL-D/1U), the serverboards offer rich expandability for future business growth. To ensure data safety, they incorporated RAID 0, 1, 10 on Windows, Redhat and Netware for complete driver support, and additional OS/data integrity protection as well as cost-effective Hardware RAID 5 upgrade from SODIMM ZCR. High-speed connection With dual-PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet, the flagship solution for server network connection, the PVL-D Series is cap able of higher bandwidth aggregation and reliable networking based on failover and load balance function s . The PVL-D Series includes the PVL-D/1U and PVL-D/SCSI serverboards . For more information on ASUS serverboards and other solutions, please visit the company homepage at www.asus.com.
