ZOTAC ha annunciato una nuova video card di classe GeForce: la nuova soluzione, siglata GeForce GTS 450 ECO Edition, è, in accordo alla denominazione commerciale adottata dal noto maker, particolarmente ottimizzata dal punto di vista della efficienza energetica (il consumo energetico della card risulta ridotto del 33% rispetto a quello misurabile con una GTS 450 pienamente aderente al design reference, ndr).

Ovviamente, la scheda è quindi priva del connettore necessario per il collegamento del suo PCB con la PSU del sistema, dal momento che tutta la potenza elettrica necessaria per il suo funzionamento viene assorbita dal bus PCI-Express; tuttavia, nonostante una simile impronta, la nuova GeForce GTS 450 ECO Edition garantisce comunque buone prestazioni, soprattutto in ambito home theatre (dove, ad esempio, il supporto della tecnologia NVIDIA 3D Vision assicura la riproduzione dei Blu-ray 3D con invio del segnale in output mediante HDMI 1.4a).

Tra le feature della scheda segnaliamo le frequenze di clock del core grafico, delle unità shader (192 unified shader) e della memoria locale (1GB di DDR3), che risultano pari a 600MHz, a 1200MHz e a 1333MHz rispettivamente. Tra le altre tecnologie supportate dalla GeForce GTS 450 ECO Edition citiamo NVIDIA CUDA, SLI e PhysX, e inoltre DirectX 11 e OpenGL 4.1.
