Con il comunicato stampa di seguito allegato, NVIDIA ha ampliato ufficialmente il suo catalogo di chip grafici orientati al mercato consumer e basati sull'architettura DirectX 11 denominata "Fermi": da poche ore, infatti, sono in commercio schede grafiche GeForce GT 430 basate sul chip grafico a 40nm il cui nome in codice è GF108 (esso si aggiunge alle altre gpu lanciate in precedenza, ovvero GF100, GF104 e GF106, ndr).

In accordo a NVIDIA, la GeForce GT 430 è indirizzata agli utenti che puntano alla riproduzione di contenuti in HD e Blu-ray 3D a 1080p (in virtù del supporto della tecnologia NVIDIA 3D Vision, ndr) e al gaming basato su DirectX 11, anche se in questo caso il maker si limita a notare che le prestazioni della GeForce GT 430 sono superiori a quelle dei chip grafici integrati.

La nuova entry-level di NVIDIA è stata già commercializzata dai principali board partner, come ASL, ASUS, Colorful, ECS, EVGA, Gainward, Galaxy, Gigabyte, Innovision 3D, Jetway, KFA2, Leadtek, MSI, Palit, Point of View, PNY, Sparkle e Zotac. Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, MSI, Samsung e Sony figurano invece tra gli OEM che utilizzano o utilizzeranno soluzioni basate sul chip GF108.

NVIDIA today announced the latest addition to its Fermi class of graphics processing units (GPUs), the NVIDIA GeForce GT 430, which was specifically designed to provide the horsepower needed to power today's digital media PCs and provide the high definition video and audio experiences that desktop customers demand.
