LaCie ha annunciato oggi un nuovo prodotto della famiglia di dischi portatili Rugged: LaCie Rugged USB 3.0, un'unità che integra la velocità superiore dell'USB 3.0 con il rinomato casing ad alta resistenza. LaCie Rugged USB 3.0 è uno degli hard disk portatili più potenti dell'offerta LaCie in termini di efficienza energetica e di velocità di esecuzione.

LaCie Rugged USB 3.0 offre una velocità fino a 110MB/s – tre volte superiore a quella dell'USB 2.0. Il miglioramento della velocità consente di trasferire un filmato HD in meno di 3 minuti (contro gli 8 minuti necessari per un trasferimento tramite USB 2.0). Offre inoltre una migliorata efficienza energetica, tanto che sarà sufficiente avere un unico cavo per essere sicuri di avere le migliori prestazioni.

Se non si dispone di una connessione USB 3.0 sul proprio PC, è possibile aggiungerla con la massima facilità usando una scheda LaCie USB 3.0 PCIe oppure una scheda USB 3.0 PCIe Express. LaCie offre anche opzioni di bundle con LaCie Rugged USB 3.0; l'utente deve solo scegliere la scheda preferita.

LaCie Rugged USB 3.0 è compatibile con la versione USB 2.0, quindi funziona con qualsiasi computer (desktop o portatile) che disponga di una connessione USB.
