Con il comunicato stampa di seguito allegato, AMD ha lanciato ufficialmente ATI Radeon HD 5800, la prima linea di schede grafiche sul mercato compatibile con le nuove librerie grafiche DirectX 11 di Microsoft, parte integrante del prossimo Sistema Operativo Windows 7. La nuova gamma è composta al momento da due modelli, siglati rispettivamente ATI Radeon HD 5870 e ATI Radeon HD 5850, entrambi equipaggiati con 1GB di RAM G-DDR5. Oltre alle API di MS, AMD ha citato le tecnologie proprietarie ATI Eyefinity e ATI Stream come il fiore all'occhiello delle nuove video card. Segue il trailer di DiRT 2, uno dei primi game DirectX 11 Ready che arriverà sul mercato nei prossimi mesi, segnalato dalla stessa AMD dal momento che il titolo è destinato ad esaltare le doti delle sue nuove Radeon.
