19.01.2014 - Eidos Montreal unveils the minimum and recommended system requirements for Thief

Eidos Montreal announced the minimum and recommended system requirements for the PC edition of its upcoming stealth-action game Thief, fourth title of the well-known Thief series and a reboot of this.

There're the minimum and recommended system requirements for Thief game on the PC platform posted by Eidos Montreal on one of its official blogs.

Minimum System Requirements

OS: Windows Vista with platform update
CPU: High-performance dual core CPU or quad core CPU
RAM: 4 GB
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon 4800 Series / Nvidia GTS 250
DirectX: DirectX 10
HDD/SSD: 20 GB

Recommended Specs

OS: Windows 7 or 8
CPU: AMD FX 8000 series or better / Intel i7 Quad Core CPU
RAM: 4+ GB
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD / R9 series or better / Nvidia GTX 660 series or better
DirectX: DirectX 11
HDD/SSD: 20 GB

As you can maybe think, the minimum requirement are not much stringent for the graphics subsystem, because Eidos Montreal indicates some legacy video cards, like the AMD Radeon 4800 Series or NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250. Furthermore A dual-core CPU may be sufficient to play Thief, also if in this case you cannot wait very high frame rates, of course.

In the same topic Eidos Montreal confirmed the partnership with Advanced Micro Devices, specifing that they "have partnered up with AMD to leverage the advanced capabilities of Radeon graphics processors, including AMD's Eyefinity multi-display technology, TrueAudio, Mantle API, and DirectX 11 rendering".

To develope the PC edition of Thief Eidos Montreal has teamed up with Nixxes Software, the creator of other PC games like Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Tomb Raider (2013). Thief is based on the Epic's Unreal Engine 3 and includes the single-player version only. In Thief the player control Garrett, a master thief that intends to steal from the rich.

Thief will be available for the PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 platforms on February 25, 2014 in North America and on February 28, 2014 in Europe.

You can see also the game's latest screenshots as well as a technology demo from AMD with Thief running at 5400 x 1920 pixel on a Kaveri A10-7850K APU and a Radeon R9 290X video card.
