The Witcher IV follows the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which took place in 2015. With the new title, CD PROJEKT RED effectively closes the trilogy consisting of the first three chapters of the series, to inaugurate a new one in which the protagonist character is Ciri, the adoptive daughter of Geralt of Rivia.
