Hello 3dfxzone.it Community !

Have you any idea, that this VOodoo5 shown in the pictures on AGP 4X works ?( imean with lower voltage , not with 3,3 V) ?

Does anyone form the forum have same or similar card, (there is also the same card with LCD out, but this is pure engineering sample)

Thanks

kind regards

that is a voodoo 5 5500. it will not work with AGP 4x, and will therefore not work with the newer 1.5V standard. however, there are constantly threads on discussing possible ways to defeat this, ranging from a 1.5-to-3.3V adapter, an AGP-to-PCI adapter, or possibly adding something to the board itself to make it work. anyways, keep an eye out for threads like that, and for the time being, I hope you have a motherboard that supports 3.3V

EDIT: LCD out was not available on the V5 series cards. however, that you have the potential for something (i.e. the connector above the monitor output) is interesting, as mine does not have that. btw, I have a V5 5500 AGP also.

Actually, amp_man, I'm gonna have to own you there buddy. That card is an engineering sample; notice the the extra notch on the agp slot.

All the MAC series of Voodoo 5's had LCD (DVI) out, also, there are a few engineering samples, like his, that were made for PC, that have LCD out...like this one...

And here are a few more engineering samples...
Voodoo 4 4500 AGP (almost bought this one off of ebay for dirt cheap):

And the Voodoo 4 4800 PCI:

To answer sloomy's question, yes, it will work in newer motherboards...but don't quote me on that...wait untill Mr. Semenec, and/or Bloodworm reply...

thanks for Qiuck replys and espec. @ lecram25 for exccellent pictures :)

I have also eventuell an VOodoo4 4500 PCI with this Bios Screen

this is the card:

Would that mean, that i have a Voodoo4 4500 PCi engineering sample for PC ? Or VOodoo Mac Versions can also show its Bios on a normal PC  ? Because after this BIos, i don't get any picture on my screen, until after 7 minutes or so this picture is showing

for 5 seconds than again nothing more  ?

Thanks for your answers and ideas

No, MAC version have different BIOS. They not show on PC. You must flash them with normal BIOS for V5. Look at Stanto`s page.

Does anybody here have this version V5 with AGP4x? I definitely need BIOS from that baby. I have VoodooMAC and I`d like to activate DVI output.

vykupitel, maybe you should ask sloomy to dump the bios for you?

Have the Voodoo4 4500 and Voodoo5 5500 the same Bioses ? IF yes i have dumped the bios of this VOodoo4 4500 LCd and can send to your e mail ..

What about my questions over there ?

cheers

bloodworm

looks like it will work in a 1.5V agp slot to me.  the extra slot in the AGP connector is the tip off here.  looks like a MAC V5 or a V5 5000 though.  the 5000 only has 32MB of ram total but will work in a 1.5V slot.
Bloody Mess

sloomy

How can you be sure ? I don't want to harm the card!! and of course also my system :)

lecram25

Well like Bloodworm said, the extra notch.

@lecram, I must agree (and admit defeat, this time), I failed to notice the extra notch in the AGP connector, which if I had been thinking I would have noticed after seeing the DVI connector area.
@sloomy, re: the V4 4500 PCI, do you have the "VGA palette snoop" option turned on in the BIOS? I have seen a similar problem caused by this.

The images in the first post show the Voodoo 5500 AGP 2.0 1.5/3.3V with universal edge connection.  That PCB is the direct counterpart to the standard Voodoo 4 4500 AGP.  It is The PCB that the Voodoo 5 should have had.  It will still only run as a PCI 66 device though.  It also facilitates LCD though the package is not installed unlike in the third post where the bracket has been removed and a LCD package soldered in place.

cool beans! in other words, the V5 (except for the MAC, forgot to include that, oops) was not available with the DVI connector, it had to be added. and, as I stated before, AGP 4x will not work, or at least if it does will have damn near no effect. i guess the only thing you corrected me about was the 1.5V support. sorry lecram, you know how much I hate to argue with you ;)

Partly correct, the 2x and 4x AGP rates don't function on the VSA-100 SLI config in general as it does not have a bridge controller, that is whatever signalling is used.

The DVI connector does not even have a location for installation on the 3.3V AGP 1.0 Dual SLI PCB, but on the one in the first post (1.5/3.3V AGP Universal 2.0 Dual SLI PCB) it does, just like the Voodoo 4 4500 AGP PCB, which also has a location for an S-Video package in addition.
