1.04.01 -beta should run quake on a Voodoo5 without problems.  You won't need to tweak it at all, it will run fluidly.  This is the kind of software that these cards were designed for.  Good choice.

-Edit: And Voodoofiles is disorganised and no longer has a forum.  The 3dfx.com site appears to be down as well...  other forums are very quiet also... evidence of the state of decay...  The end is nigh.
