I am trying to use a voodoo 5 5500 in a PCCHIPS M811 motherboard, and I cannot get it to boot past the summary screen, right before it SHOULD start windows. I just swapped out my x1600 to try it out, and it's not booting at all. I have it set to agp 2x, with video bios shadowing disabled, with 512mb of 266mb ddr memory, and a 333mhz FSB 2600+ running at 1.5 ghz (2000+, 266 mhz FSB). I have windows 2003 server installed. Anyone have any ideas?

I don't think it's a voodoo5 Problem.

Try to load the bios with default settings.
It may be a problem with the boot device setting also.
Did u get an error message?

No, I have the boot devices set the same (hdd 0 first), and there is no error message. It just sits there at the summary screen forever. I've noticed the same thing is happening with my voodoo 3 3000. They're both agp... Odd, because my x1600 is still working fine in it. [:(]

Ok, I hadn't done it yet because I was backing up everything on it... I am going to reformat soon because of 2k3 doing wonky things. I'll edit this with the results.

EDIT: No change whatsoever. The failsafe settings didn't even change a thing, except disabling my integrated network card.

if you have a digital cam, capture the bios screen where the AGP options are

i say, where u set the aperture size, rate, sideband addressing, fastwrites, etc---

so, we can see and tell the "best" config.

Well, I don't need the "best" config, just one that will allow it to boot while the voodoo 5 is installed. I'll do a few screenies with my camera anyway though. I'll edit with the pics.

Here's a download link; I can't remember my imageshack password: ftp://technik733.no-ip.com/bios_settings.zip

Sorry for the low resolution and quality, I used a webcam.

Also, these are the settings with my x1600 in it (I only change the agp aperture size and agp speed when I put the 5500 in), and I put the agp 2x back to 4x after taking the screenshot.

Pcchips website is presently down.
Ehm, you're underclocking a cpu, maybe this is the problem. (?)

Well I can Overclock the motherboard almost to the cpu's specs, but the meter doesn't go over 165mhz. And that causes memory issues. =/ It's always worked fine for me at 133fsb.

Ok, I've just tried both my 5500 and my 3000 in another computer (an old p3 that supports agp pro) and they are both fully functional. I also have a shot of the screen that the computer freezes at with either of the voodoos installed: ftp://technik733.no-ip.com/freeze.JPG

This means it must be a memory, bios, motherboard, or cpu problem. [:(] I'm going to try different memory stick in it... just for kicks. If that doesn't help, then I guess I'll be trying a better mobo. I've been thinking about getting a kt333 because they're supposed to be compatible with voodoos. =/

EDIT: Woah... don't even remember what happened with this. My setup I have now is working relatively well though.
