Yeah I've tried the voodoo2 and its just the 2k/XP support that I'm scared of but last night I just got word that a friend is going to send me his voodoo3 for free! lol so needless to say I can't wait for it to arrive!

AMD Video Cards / Scanline Interleaving (SLI)
22 October 2003, 15:14:43
ok another bad question to add onto this... what are some other options of 3d cards that require a 2d card?  the whole reason i'm asking all of this is that i have an OLD dual socket-5 with p1s @200mhz mobo that can process stuff quickly and runs harddrives hard but the video is like a bottle neck and i need some d3d or just some acceleration support...  so because its a dualie i need the smp support of win2k or xp... i want to run xp but the drivers of the voodoo2 aren't well supported... so what could be some of my other optoins?   The mobo has 512mb ram ata133 raid with 3x 6.8gig hds in raid 1... yes it has pci2.1 slots but the way the cpu/pci/ram is setup it don't like new video cards at all!!!!  the best video card i've got to run in it is a S3 virge/dx.. and I plugged in the voodoo2 to look at the posting of the system and it seemed to have tested fine, i just never installed drivers yet to see if it really works... so got any ideas on upgrades?  i did try a ATI rage2+dvd and it boots but somehow it disables ALL d3d and acceleration support (and the video outs) in win2k/xp...

"I ain't got a PCI>AGP converter (where the heck can you buy such things), so I can't use both at the same time."

UH has anyone ever made on of those?  i mean you problably could with a pci 66mhz slot but not a standard pci 2.1 compliancy slot, if so i'd love to read up on it!!!!  let me know!!! becuase i have an old DUAL pentium one and using an older AGP card would be awsome!!!!

Games / street legal

Uh first off which verson of the game are you running? and have  you read over their faqs on their home page?  also do note that they say as for a minimum
"PII 600mhz
128 mb RAM
DX 8.1 compatible Graphics card w/16mb video memory
4x Speed CD Rom drive
Windows 98/2000/ME/XP
DX 8.1 compatible mouse and keyboard
700 mb free hard disk space"

but most that play the game (i did) say that its not playable with these conditions the recommended is:
"PIII 1ghz
256 mb RAM
DX 8.1 compatible Graphics card w/32mb video memory
8x Speed CD Rom drive
Windows 98/2000/ME/XP
DX 8.1 compatible mouse and keyboard
700 mb free hard disk space"

also another note, make sure your running the newest version of the game, I bought the game when it first came out and they released it UNFINISHED which sucked and there are currently 4 downloadable versions for it (last i knew) upto version 3 is great but the 4th patch once again makes it playable... the patches also suck because they are 50mbs each!!!  each patch makes the game completely different from handeling to parts, and the way cars look, game loading, music, and just over all playability...  if your running windows XP (which i suspect you are) they had lots of problems with the game minizeing and the 3rd patch takes care of most of it but if you don't want to download that then look for the other fan sites of street legal...  some claim that if you right click the file and play with some of the compatibility settings that will fix the dropping down of the window... well laterz and good luck...

AMD Video Cards / Scanline Interleaving (SLI)
22 October 2003, 11:27:06
(I didin't know where to start this topic so here we go)
In my current embarkment into older video card I'd really have to say that my old favorate video card was the old S3 Savage... Mostly because of some nice drivers done by Fachman... The old video card was a 2x AGP 8mb sdram and could fly!!!!  My best records with that were over 180fps in UT with a low resolution custom map... On a 800mhz duron 256mb sdram 30gig 7,200RPM HD...  AND NO I WASN'T LOOKING AT A WALL GETTING THOSE SPEEDS...  but my recent discovery of the voodoo2 is quite awsome as to seeing how much quality and performance older video cards have, unlike newer ones today...  The nice feature of SLI mode seems to be incredable, but I guess my question is, is there anyother video cards out there new/old that can do sli besides the voodoo2?

Voodoo2 Setup and tweaking / ct6670
22 October 2003, 11:15:11
"garbage in regedit, mix of old and newer files.."
I had done a fresh install of win98 and the voodoo2_3.5 drivers were the only drivers that I installed for it...  (I know I stated that I installed the 3.0 drivers my error/typo)  I then found a Document with pics on how to properly uninstall the drivers (inf folder) and do it the proper way to install other drivers...
I'm soon going to be getting UT (goty edition) and some other games to do some further testing of both sets of drivers.   I've never really liked 3d bench mark programs but what are some good ones that are free to use and try out?  I'll try to keep you informed of my findings...
Regedit now displays 8mb of ram with the creative drivers, with the 3.5 drivers I don't remember it stateing anything about ram...

I really do love this forum and the web pages and info of 3dfxzone GREAT WORK!!!

Voodoo2 Setup and tweaking / ct6670
20 October 2003, 16:56:46
Ok, I'm gonna try to make this short, but I know it may be long...

My currnt system is a AMD-k6-2-500 onboard 4mbAGP, onbard sound, dvd-rom, 30gig 5,400RPM hard drive, 256mb pc133 ram...

At a Garage Sale, for $5, I found this voodoo card, on it, it has a sticker saying model:ct6670, he included a disk but it was for a voodoo3, all the research that I've done states that its a 12mb creative voodoo2... Only to find out its a 8mb (or the drivers say so)...  Well I was running win2k and after using the FastVoodoo2_XP drivers sucked (I'm sure they work but most of my games are D3D) so I did a fresh install of win98... after alot of tweaking and using cachman I installed the fastvoodoo2_3.0 drivers and continued on playing NFS3 and NFS Porsche-unleashed... but haveing to set all the games setting to LOW graphic settings, so I got cerious and downloaded the stock creative drivers from 1998 and WOW what a HUGE differance, I can now set all of my games to Max on the graphics and its MEGA fast, so I guess what my question is, is the fastvoodoo2 driver NOT for my card? and whats the huge differance with the creative ct6670 than other voodoo2s?  and is there a tool I can use to find out how much memory is on my card?  Also I one day play to put this card into my dual Pentium one system is there any word as to if win2k/xp will support d3d with this card soon?

Sorry to have asked so many questions, but i've been searching for stuff on this video card for months... Thanx for your time...
