If you want to use a floppy cable you have to change a few lines in the cable. Here is a picture of what you need to do. It's correct and will work.

AMD Video Cards / upgrading my driver
14 June 2006, 09:04:42
ATI's site has a tab on top of their home page for "Drivers & Software" under that tab you can choose your OS. Then you choose your card type (Radeon, AIW, TV Tuner ect.) Download the drivers and then run the .exe file... Reboot your system and you're done.

Well, not just any 2D card should be used. You wouldn't want to use a old 2MB Trident card since some of the stuff in games is done in 2D. Matrox always had good 2D graphics so ps47 is totally correct recommending a g400. I have a 32MB Diamond Viper 770 Ultra paired up my 24MB Diamond Monster II SLI setup.
Here is my Glide system just in case you want to look over some of the parts I used. Most of the parts are original from when I ran that system as my main gaming rig when it was new.

  -Glide System-
Asus P3B-F Intel 440BX chipset
Intel PIII 650
128 Mb PC100 Corsair SDRAM
40 Gb Hitachi ATA100 7200 RPM HD
Mitsumi 48X CD-ROM
Windows 98se
Diamond Viper 770 Ultra 32Mb AGP
Diamond Monster 3D II 24Mb SLI
Sound Blaster AWE 64 Gold
MS SideWinder Precision Pro Joystick
US Robotics 56K V.90 Fax/Modem w/voice
KTI KF-230TX 10/100 NIC
Linksys WUSB54G USB Wireless Network Adaptor

It probably is a memory problem. Remember, even though the Voodoo5 has 64MB RAM it's really only a 32MB card since the memory is split between the 2 VSA-100 chips.

Good luck with building your Glide machine.
If you are going to buy the parts you might want to buy PIII parts.
Some of the last Glide games that were released will play better on a PIII system.

I didn't buy most of this stuff because I had it left over from my Glide days, as a matter of face I only replaced the HD and added the USB wireless network adaptor to the system. I'm glad I didn't sell off all me stuff since I love having a Glide system now.

I like the ATI cards better than the nVidia cards but I just like ATI better. nVidia guys will tell you the same about the GeForce cards. I like the new features in the X1800 cards. The X1800XL is a good card but the X1800XT is even faster but at a higher price of course. If you buy a Sapphire Tech card instead of an ATI card you will save some money. They are the same card since Sapphire Tech is making many of the "built By ATI" cards anyway. I've seen the 512MB Sapphire Tech X1800XL as low as $359 and the 512MB X1800XT @ ~ $469

If you are looking for some really great Voodoo2 cooling fans you might want to get the TennMax Stealth V2 Cooler. One fan covers all the chips on the V2 and it's thin so you can use your SLI without seperating the cards. Take a look here: http://www.tennmax.com/voodoo2/stealth.htm

BTW, the TennMax Stealth V3 Coolers are great for your Voodoo3 and Voodoo5 cards.
They are the best cooling fans I've seen for the V5... http://tennmax.com/voodoo3/stealth_v3.htm

Any Voodoo card made in China is worth less than anywhere else IMO.
Another problem, it's AGP so it can't be used in a system with a newer primary video card.

A Voodoo2 SLI setup was just as fast as a Voodoo3 but no where near as fast as a Voodoo4 let alone a Voodoo5. Remember, the VSA100 chip was scalable so the more CPU you gave it the faster you went. The Voodoo2 couldn't do that.

Is it possible the program you are using to test the speed is incorrect?

AMD Video Cards / ATI9600 + Operation Flashpoint

First make sure you have all the patches installed like said above.

This seems to be a problem that pops up now and again.
Make sure you have your color depth set at 32bit and not 16bit.
It also seems to happen when you alt+tab out of the game and back.
If you can't fix it you can always get help on the Flashpoint forum.

If you can find a PIII board with the 440BX chipset you will not believe how good your Voodoo2's will run. I have a Glide box set up that runs very fast for a Voodoo2 box. I know you are trying to make the best of what you have but a PIII board and setup will be very cheap to buy since most people have no use for that older stuff now.

Nice work, I like it!!

If you are not overclocking the card the factory heatsink is just fine. If you do see a heat problem you might want to remove the heatsink, clean off the old thremal compound and reinstall the heatsink with fresh thremal compound.
