I recently purchased a new (OEM) voodoo 3 3500TV card online. It was a steal at 20 bucks (considering I paid about $250 for one originally in 2000) I go to install it on my system. I got fine performance except for the lack of output of sound from the card when watching TV. So I assume it's a faulty card, the seller promptly packages up another and sends it out. So in this instance, I install it all fresh with a clean OS (Win ME) and it operates flawlessly. Great! Not really. I have found that when you attempt to upgrade DirectX to version 8.1 or above it disrupts the audio output from the voodoo card. This poses a problem to me because several applications I need to use require the updated DirectX. I have searched high and low for a patch to fix this problem, no luck. I really can't afford to purchase a new TV card now, so I'm kinda stuck with this one.
My system consists of:
Athlon T-Bird 1100Mhz Processor, 3D Now!
Voodoo 3500tv
Windows ME, 512MB PC133 SDRAM
15Gb and 60Gb Maxtor drives on Promise Ultra100
Matsu****a LF-D310 DVD-r
Hopefully that should be sufficient info.. please help.. spent too much time on this problem already!!
