Voodoo 4 4500 PCI
Voodoo 5 5500 PCI

I've used both AmigaMerlin and SFFT.
I noticed overall that the AmigaMerlin drivers are faster but less stable then the SFFT drivers.
(V5 5500 PCI Q3 demo /w MesaFX ~90fps in amigamerlin and ~56fps in SFFT)

Currently i am using SFFT latest + Mesa FX + GlideXP. On my system they are the most stable, although there are some strange glitches with Direct3D (example : after exiting UT2004 - strange scanlines remain on the desktop). I am using a LCD monitor btw.

My system:
Abit IP35-E
C2D e6750 @ 3.2ghz
4x1gb ddr2 800
Voodoo 5 5500 PCI
Antec Trio 550W PSU
OS: Windows XP SP3 32bit

Games / GTA SA playable @ Voodoo5!
23 March 2009, 21:40:54
First of all, sorry for reviving such an old thread :)
But did anyone manage to play GTA:SA /w a Voodoo 5500 (PCI in my case) with more than 1FPS ? i've tried both amigamerlin and SFFT (latest) and didn't manage to obtain a playable GTA:SA.
Any help would be appreciated.

It just happened again.
This time i was ingame (American McGee's Alice - the computer froze after a cutscene).
The computer freezes, and no longer accepts any input (ctrl+alt+del, alt+f4, etc).
Could it be an overheating issue ? o_O

LE:
I decided to remove the AmigaMerlin drivers, clean with DriverCleaner and then do a fresh install of the latest SFFT drivers.
The stability has improved (no crashes so far, even if performing the same steps to reproduce as before), but the performance dropped. (Quake 3 timedemo AmigaMerlin + MesaFX = 90fps compared to SFFT+MesaFX = 56fps)
At least it's now stable (or anyway more stable than before - i will post news if i encounter any new freezes)

Hello,
Lately i've been getting some strange lockups while in desktop and browsing/doing nothing.
I played Unreal Tournament, Quake 3 with no issues on OpenGL/Glide.
The lockups occured when sitting on desktop with no 3d application opened.
This occured 2 times.

My system:
Voodoo 5 5500 PCI (PC Version)
Abit IP 35-E
C2D e6750  @ 3.2ghz (i'm 100% sure it's not from the o/c)
4x1gb ddr2 800mhz

I am waiting for your opinions... Is it a hardware fault or simply a driver issue? (using latest Amigamerlin + Glide XP)
Thank you very much.
