The problem is over! But the way it happened puzzles me. All i did was remove an old Creative sound card which i did not use. (I wanted to connect a Sidewinder joystick to it`s gameport, but XP refused the driver). Then i decided to check if this perhaps made any difference and voila - glitch-free flying. I never touched the Voodoo card! Does this make any sense???

BTW I did not have the glitch in Urban Assault. And reducing memory with the tweaker did not help.

I decided to switch back tot the 3dfx driver. Koolsmoky`s made the graphics look a little dark. And now i can also see the driver demo!
Anyway, hope this will help somebody else sometime...

Thanks for the quick reply. I installed Koolsmoky`s driver, but it makes no difference: i still get the same slightly bumpy ride. Playing with refresh rate/resolution didn`t help either.

Note that i have the same problem with a version of RB3D that was already installed on a second hard disk in the same computer.

Any other suggestions??

Dear all,

I use a good old Voodoo2 card to play Red Baron 3D. I recently had to do a fresh install of Windows XP, and then re-installed RB3D and the Fastvoodoo2 4.0 XP Gold Edition driver as usual. However, i now have a small glitch in RB3D: while flying, every 1,5 seconds the game freezes for a millisecond. I thought this might be an issue within the game, but then i noticed that i can`t play the Fastvoodoo driver demos: i get a message "error in demo6030.exe" (same with the donut demo).

I initially got the same message when starting RB3D ("error in Red Baron  3D"), until i downloaded the glide3x.dll from this forum. I did not have to do this the last time i last installed the game.

All this is probably connected somehow, but i can`t quite put my finger on it! Any clues?!
Cheers,

Jasper.

...and the problem is SOLVED. Turns out i had to delete the unnecessary glide wrapper (which came with the "RB3D first aid kit") from the game folder. Oh well...

Thanks for the reply. I unzipped glide2x_radeon as suggested but unfortunately - no success...

Hello to all !

I have just installed an old Voodoo2 card along with the FastVoodoo2 4.0 XP GE driver from 3dfxzone.it, in order to play Red Baron 3D in glide mode. However, after switching to "glide" in the graphics menu, every time i want to actually fly a mission inside te game, the screen goes black and after hitting Ctrl/Alt/Delete i get an "Error in RB3D" message !
According to Windows the card + driver are working properly; also the driver demo's worked OK... So what might be the problem [?]
I also put my problem to a Red Baron forum, as it SEEMS to be something within the game, but maybe someone here can shed some light on it ??

My computer:
Intel Pentium III
256MB RAM
OS=Win XP

Thanks in advance,

Jasper.
