Good News everyone :)

I edited some lines in drivers's inf and now supports the resolution. I hope this won't damage my card, but as long as it supports 1280x1024 it should support 1440x900 as they are less pixels in number :)

Hello! I Bought recently a Hannstar 19" wide tft running @ 1440x900@60hz.

I tried through the D-SUB exit of my monitor to use my VooDoo rig, however i could select res. up to 1280x1024. Same happend even after i instaled tfts drivers. Running desktop at lower res. is pretty ungly and VERY exhausting for my eyes[:(]

I am using amigamerlin's drivers and Windows ME.
Thanks :)

Voodoo4/5 Discussions / Cooling V5500

Xmm, i also have another question...

My Heatsinks do not have any screws... How will i install them?

I thought of using instant superglue at edges and Artic Ceramique in the center of each chipset... Would that work?

Voodoo4/5 Discussions / Cooling V5500

Summer's comming and in Greece temperatures grow rapidly...

In my AT case my poor V5500 causes system restarts when rendering 3d graphics because of the the high temperatures (i couldn't keep my finger on her because of the temps.) More than that, the USB 2.0 pci host i installed leaves only ~0.5cm of air gap between her and V5's first fan.

The sollution is found with my 12cm TT silent fan. I made a hole in the case so it could get air from the outside and throw it directly to the first VSA and the other cards! the case temps are a lot better.

What i thought, is that if the TT can do so much work, and it is silent, an the fans of 5500 make a lot noise and do nothing, why not removing them! but, will this benefit or not my V5500? i will remove only the fans, not heatsinks (that would be stupid by me :P)

Also, i have 2 486 cupper heatsinks. They are bigger than the stock ones. And since they are from cupper i believe they would do better work. What do u say? :)

try find a 266 or 300 k6-II or III... they are really cheap plus they have 3Dnow! extensions, helping your SLI a lot :)

Thank you! :D Well i am not quite sure if it has worked... I used fast voodoo 4.6 as is. Some games run some not. For example Test Drive 4 runs great and support 1024x768 as mm2, but need for speed 4 crashes on startup when i select 3dfx, but runs at 1024x768 on D3D... How this come?

It works smoothly :)! Midtown Madness II will work under 1024x768 with  fairly enough framerate. The only problem now is that i work with a Trident ISA vga (640x480@256 colours) and my eyes KILL me (i left the pc about 50' ago and i still feel dizzy). I must remove the TV card [:(]! But i don't care that much right now... I HAVE SLIIIIIII :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

a V2 -> 8 or 12 meg  ;)

QuoteCould the card be overclocked and produce wrong graphics because of overheating?
yes   [:(]

well in the second case then, can i underclock it to it's normal clocks... or it has damaged the hardware?

A Diamond 8 meg + a Creative Labs 12 meg ?
you like the difficulty [:p]
No chance for an other Creative Labs 12 meg ?
easier :D

edit : if you try, try also this package

i don't know why, but i love pcs earlier 2000. :). Not sure, but the guy told me it is 16mb (did v2 had that ammount of memory?). I will either choose betwin this card or a dual socket 7 motherboard.

Oh, i just saw the 12mb v2 (the faulty one). Looks like it has some kind of thermal paste on 3dfx chips. It is clean, but some of it has been left on it... Could the card be overclocked and produce wrong graphics because of overheating? [?]

Ehm, now you have a sli cable (:)) but you need an other V2 (8 meg) or the best 2 V2 (12 meg) (because of the extra 4 megs of texture memory)
Easy in Greece to find a Voodoo2 ?

(i can't answer in your native langage : i don't speak it but your french words are perfect  :D )
i found "thanks" in greek but the board doesn't write correctly the words in greek [:p] )

:) thanks :)

As for the voodoo... YEAP somebody up there loves me :)the guy who brought me the faulty card found me another one voodoo2... But it is from creative and 16mb never used with all it's package etc (pci sli e.t.c)... but i guess it won't work huh?

Finaly the 12mb proven to be dead, because i worked it alone and had the same symptoms. I changed slot and everything but didn't help. At least i made a working SLi cable :)

i ment it had artifacts. To tell u the truth i haven't checked them seperatly... only the 8mb card. I had already the 8mb as primary but now i put the 12mb to see how things go...

Also when i select on the drivers (fastVooDoo2) to disable sli midtown madness gives me the option to play on 1024x768 (even though it crashes), but on 800x600 i can put all settings to hi and the game won't loose frames at all! with only the 8mb it was terrible with everything to high. BUT it have
blueish colours...

basicly... on test drive 4 it crashes when it tryies to load the 3Dfx logo, on midtown madness shows the choosen car full of artifacts and then it crashes when it loads :(
