Games / Unreal tournament 3 On a voodoo 3 4 or 5
24 January 2009, 16:09:25
As I said.
The Unreal 3 engine completely new. There's nothing to do with the UT2004 engine. And 3D-analyzer can only emulate pixel shader 2.0, and UT3 requires 3.0 at least. So, I'm certain that a voodoo card could not run this game even on 640x480 and low settings. I'm not telling that considering that Voodoo are not able to handle the task, but there's no p.s. 3.0 emulator yet.
Best regards!

Games / Unreal tournament 3 On a voodoo 3 4 or 5

Hi, I have Unreal 3 installed and I can say that it'll NEVER run on a voodoo card, especially on a voodoo4 4500.
I have a voodoo4 too. Never tryed to run Unreal 3 with her but, I can say that it'll never happen. The game requires at least a geforce 6 card. So, when it is said, you must understand that it may need some technologies like Pixel Shader 3.0, Transform and Lightning and a lot of other things that voodoo never managed to be capable of.
I use a 8600GT card and it runs on Maximum detail, and, even on low detail, the game have a very good graphic, and still need the SHaders 3.0 to run. So, Sorry to say that, but your only hope to play this game is to upgrade your video-card.

ps: This game should never be refered to the 2003 or 2004 editions of Unreal. It's a completely new engine and one of the most beautiful that I'd ever seen.

Games / Spiderman Web of Shadows wont work.

If you are trying to run this game with a Voodoo card I'm very sad to tell you that it'll never happen. There's tons of features that this game requires on a video card, even if we ignore the necessity of at least a 256mb vga card to run this game, there are other features like Pixel Shader 3.0 and Vertex Shader 3.0.
One of these days I was asking myself "If we can emulate the Shaders 2.0 with 3d-analyzer, why don't we emulate the 3.0??" The answer is obvious, nobody made a program that can emulate that. No 3d-analyze is able to deal with it.
So, if you want to run this game, buy a Geforce or a Radeon Card with Shader 3.0 support like the Geforces 6600 or above, and the Radeon 1650 or above.
I use a Geforce 8600GT here, and the game runs like hell. I do belive that what's "holding" my game performance is my CPU, a Pentium e2160, but, I'll never know until I buy a new one.
Anyway, this game realy rocks, and it worth the money spent to upgrade your pc. Even better, is if you upgrade for a PC to run GTA IV. Mine runs strangely, I'm waiting for a patch to see some fixes. The things that people say around, is that GTA IV is a game made for Next Gen PCs, but, it's kind of weird to hear and a bit unbelievable. I do believe that a Mid end or a Mid-high end PC could do the job at a acceptable graphics settings.
Best regards!

Games / JUST CAUSE

Hi m14radu
As I said, I played this game with my Onboard Card... (Intel extreme 224mb)...
It was running on 1024x768 32bit and all details on high...
I was unable to play it on my voodoo card because it's a voodoo4 32mb... and the game needs at least 64mb, so I don't even tryed...
The game was completely playable, I don't know how to activate the fps counter on this game, but I can tell you that on my intel card, it runs smooth...
I'm curious to know if with a voodoo with 64mb, the game will work, maybe like the playstation 2 version in terms of quality, but it still fun!!!

Ok, myself as a Voodoo owner, never expect to get such water, blur, and skin efects... but, I do expect the voodoo with 64mb runs it at least like the playstation2 version of this game, that it a little uglier but still fun!!

Games / JUST CAUSE

Hi there!!!!
Here I'm again!
I'm actualy using my onboard vga, cause of it's directx 9.0 capabilities....
But, every game I try to play acuses the same error that my sweet little voodoo4 4500... THE F@!# TnL!!!!!!
Well... My voodoo card, as everybody here knows have just 32mb... so... the game Just Cause needs 64mb...
So... thinking of my voodoo megabyte limitation, and considering that my Intel Extreme don't have any TnL like the voodoos, I'm posting this topic to say that I had success running Just Cause on my Intel card just marking the "emulate Tnl" on 3d-analyze!!!
So, I hope that everyone here that has a voodoo5 with at least 64mb, should try to run it!!! It's a huge game, and really great too!!!

ps: When u try to run the game without the 3d analise, maybe it will say that your card doesn't support Pixel Shader 1.1 and Vertex Shader 1.1... But don't worry, you don't even need to use the "emulate Pixel Shader caps" or anything like it on the 3D analyse... Apply just the Tnl Emulation and it might work!!!!!
C ya!! ;)

I'm using the Amigamerlin 3.1 R11 driver,
And it runs smoothly, but, when you Zoom the earth to see the buildings, they all look white!
When I say that WinXP doesn't recognize our voodoo's, that´s because WinXP runs the voodoo cards with a lot of glitches and bugs, like this one that makes the G.E. buildings look white!
WinXP sucks!!

Hi,
Good news for the VOODOOMANIACS (like me), there are people saying that Google Earth doesn't work on Voodoo cards.
The first time that I installed G.E., it realy doesn't worked, but then, I choosed to ignore the error message and entered at the "Options" screen, and... Wooaallaa!
All you need to do is to change the engine from OpenGL to Direct3D, that's because WinXP don't recognize our voodoo cards, especially, their OpenGL compatibility, that's why I hate WinXP, (without saying that WinXP makes the voodoo's slower than a turtle), but anyway, Google earth is playable under Voodoo, but it's even better if u use Win2k, and maybe even better on Win98 (I never tryed to install G.E. on Win98, so pls, if someone already did, tell me!)
That's it!!
3Dfx, "gone" but never forgotten!!!!
