I haven't used my 3dfx gear in a while and was wondering if their would be any concerns running pci 3dfx cards on modern motherboards. I don't wont to fry anything.

EG: Looking at building a Asrock Z97 Anniversary with a G3258 CPU.



It's got two PCI slots - ideal for my voodoo2 boards.

I guess it all comes down to the voltage and Mhz on the PCI slots, any other considerations???

Have you tried running any dos Glide with only one GPU in operation?

I'd imagine you would have to fire up these dos glide games with some bat file setting up the environment.

You can install your voodoo 1 or 2 card having a dedicated screen for it that way you could keep your VoodooMAC DVI output. Essentially you'd be running two screens.

I've got a Dell UltraSharp Widescreen LCD with both DVI and D-Sub 15 input, so all I would do is connect both up and when running a voodoo1 or 2 card, I would switch to VGA on the front of my monitor.

This is probably the realistic solution, you could spend hours configuring a bat file to work properly if even it could, which I doubt. And it be for each dos game too. brrrrrrr!

Is it the Voodoo 5500 Bios that states Voodoo 4500 by any chance?

Does anyone know if there is a bios that exorcises a Voodoo4 4500 PCI MAC for use on a PC to enable DVI?

Or any information as to what to edit in the BIOS file to enable DVI?

It's been done with the Voodoo5 5500 and should be possible here too.

Anyone know what the best tool to find your actual AGP bus speed?

I think I already had it running in 2D accidentally and it was OK. Wasn't game enough to go 3D until I asked here on the forum.

I'm thinking of overclocking the BIOS to match the AGP bus speed just for compatability. And go for extra cooling while I'm at it.

Eventually I want a system that I can do benchmarks between the PCI and AGP and just see the differences.

OK! I just got a voodoo5 5500 AGP version.

I wanna chuck it into my overclocked ASUS P2B-D mobo.
Anyone know if the V5 can take 89Mhz on the AGP port?
This is 33% higher than the 66Mhz when running stock 100Mhz FSB!

Well I guess it's based on the Voodoo5 family. It was supposed to be a economical alternative to the V5 5500. But I think I read somewhere it was a bit of an economical failure like the banshee. OEM competition stuff and all.

If your having any sound issues ALT + and ALT - will increase/decrease the sound buffer to fix any choppy sound.
