Hi, I'm thinking about buying this card:
Chaintech GeForce4 Ti4200 128mb DDR - thats Chaintech Geforce 4 Ti 4200 Gold Edition

My PC only has AGP 2x support max.

I've been looking over the net and some sites say that it works on AGP 2x, but others say AGP 4x/8x, does anyone know for sure if it supports AGP 2x ?

Chaintech's card model is called A-GX21

thank you

I've read somewhere that voodoo3's are based on voodoo2's - in fact they are 2 voodoo2's with a faster memory, connected in SLI.

I'm wondering... can I use 2 voodoo3's in SLI mode? Theoretically (don't mind the drivers)? Practically?

Please note: I'm talking about Voodoo3 3000 PCI 16MB

And just as a curiousity question... I know that quantum 3D series use up to ( 8 ? ) voodoo2's connected in SLI, in theory, can you connect 20 of them in SLI, just as long as you have enough power ?

I'm using wickedGL drivers for opengl games, they give me a huge performance boost at almost no visual quality loss.

I'm wondering if there is something similar for direct3d ?

-----Wanna play max payne, but it only works in D3D and large places are killing my fps :(

Voodoo2 Setup and tweaking / voodoo2 and dx9
04 February 2005, 01:34:50
I had the same problem.

How I fixed it:
-Completely uninstalled voodoo2 drivers (including the 2 services)
There is a guide (I think even maybe on this site) on how to remove voodoo2 completely, not just D3D portion of it.

-Installed older drivers (3dfx-released)

-Updated drivers to 3dfxzone.it 4.0 Gold Edition

Video Game Screenshots / Doom3 Beta and Voodoo 2

lol let me guess...

16x16 texture size, around 8-15 fps?

Considering the requirements for the game, I'd say its "unplayable" on voodoo2 because of small fps, but you can get it to run.

I'm getting around 9fps on Diamond Monster 3D II 8MB @98MHz(Voodoo2) at 640x480 res with 16x16 texture size on Doom III Alpha Version

I'm just guessing, but if u put opengl32.dll (MESA or WickedGL), everything should start up fine. I didn't get the latest CS yet, the latest version I tried this on is CS: Condition Zero

P.S. WickedGL will probably work only in full screen mode.

Voodoo2 Discussions / Voodoo2 and UT 2003

UT2003

the game runs fine for me with WickedGL. A bit slow sometimes, but if you set all detailes to LOW, the game becomes playable.

Currently any game that supports OpenGL will run with Voodoo2 using either MESA (newer OpenGL support) or WickedGL (older opengl, but sometimes faster).

Tested on Diamond Monster 3D II 8MB, 4 MB tex mem. (Voodoo2 from Diamond)

Voodoo2 Discussions / Driver comparison
20 July 2004, 16:18:02
you shouldn't expect anything else - the performance is almost the same using all of the drivers.

the things that newer versions have:
- bug fixes
- better compatibility
- better quality (sometimes)

btw. All voodoo2 cards (except the one by Creative) run pretty stable at 98MHz. Everything above 100MHz will probably either fry your card or will crash your game a lot. I have mine running at 98MHz for a long time now in a closed case, with no additional cooling. 99MHz should be OK too, but I don't wanna push it. Extra 8MHz give you about 10 extra fps.

I have Diamond Monster 3D II (Voodoo2 from Diamond) and it works at 800x600 32Bit with MESAGL library.

umm... me would wanna :D

I dun have money to buy new video card, so I'm using voodoo2 for D3D games.

Trust me, it is much easier to install a Win2K/Win98SE dual boot system, than to wait for D3D voodoo2 Win2k Compatibility.

I'm playing all my games under Win98SE and doin everythin else under Win2k.

This way game run as fast as they can on my machine due to a small register size.

Tips, Tricks and Patches / JK2 Jedi Outcast

I've tried using MESA with JK2, but it crashes.

Last version of WickedGL works fine for me.

heh I would if I could.

The thing is - Voodoo2 is a 3D-accelerator. Which means that this card requires another video card in order to work. All 2D functions are handled by the primary video card, while all 3D functions are handled by Voodoo2 (secondary video card). And the problem to this is Microsoft's stupidity in failing to include Attached Devices support into Win NT/2K/XP, which means - NO D3D. However, OpenGL and Glide are 3rd party products and they don't require Attached Devices support.

the thing is... its not working... Its trying to use the opengl drivers of my primary video card(which suck on anything above 320x240) and finally gives me an error(different all the time, usually says "error while accessing memory at location..."). I want it to use my voodoo2 drivers.

General Hardware / Overclocking CPU...
19 June 2004, 00:56:19
Ok, thanx.
I've stayed @ 487 MHz for a few days now until scandisk started finding "bad chunks" of files on my HDD.
For now, I clocked it back to 66 MHz.

I've read other people's reports, Intel Celeron 433 should work with no problems at around 550 MHz, I'm not trying to go that high, trying to stay at 487 MHz for now.

Is this caused by overclocking the FSB? How can I fix this?
Will raising the core voltage to 2.0 V help?

Direct3D-OpenGL Wrapper: http://www.voodoofiles.com/7149
Just wondering, how do I use this soft? Had this baby for a while now, having trouble using it. System specs below.

Promises to convert 90% D3D 8.1 calls into Opengl calls. It says on voodoofiles that it should help run d3d accelerated games on voodoo2 video cards under Windows NT/2k/XP...

The link on voodoofiles is old(0.7), the latest version (0.9) should support DirectX 8.1 and mostly support DirectX 9.
