For Windows 98 there are special mismatched SLI drivers.  But not for Windows XP.  So one option would be to try Windows 98 if you can.

You can sometimes find SLI cables on eBay.  Buying one might be simpler.

Voodoo2 Discussions / Voodoo2, Direct3D and XP

You are correct.  There is no Direct3D support for a Voodoo2 on XP.  It's all Microsoft's fault!

I multi-boot Windows 98 and XP (amongst others).  98SE is still fully as good an operating system for games as XP.  It is actually better for many older games too.  This will change in time as support for 98 declines.  But for a gaming system with Voodoo2s installed you can't do better than 98SE anyway!

The middle four wires have to be twisted through 180 degrees.  Go here (thanks Eddy!) for a picture -

Voodoo2 Discussions / 2 voodoo 2 + GF4MX SLI?

That screen looks like that because the drivers were developed and distributed with an earlier version of RICHED20.DLL.  The later versions of RICHED20.DLL that come with Windows 98 and XP work slightly differently and so cause the text in that window to become distorted.

It's a small cosmetic issue and nothing to worry about.  It doesn't affect how the driver works or anything.

Voodoo2 Discussions / MAJOR Voodoo² Bug!
12 January 2004, 20:04:56
I've got a different story to tell.

I upgraded my system last October but usually boot Windows 98lite for gaming.  I did have Windows XP installed on one partition in my last system (P3 600 + 256MB PC100) and used "Anthony's" (NTCompatible's) Voodoo2 drivers.  But, with my new system (P4 2.4 + 512MB 800FSB), these caused XP to become completely unstable and unusable.

FastVoodoo2 4.0 XP GE works perfectly however! :D

I'm not running an X-24 here but, instead, I am using Quantum3D's 200SBi which is the longer single card version.  My motherboard is an Intel D875PBZ.

Obviously it is no simple matter getting a driver to work under different hardware conditions.  I'm sorry other people are having trouble and hope that the driver team manage to fix things for them.  But for myself I'd like to say thanks to Glide and everyone who's making the FastVoodoo series possible. Voodoo2 Discussions / v2 SLI ,old question

Actually the performance increase is pretty small over a single card.  The main benefit from SLI is access to 1024x768 screen resolutions.

Hi Panoramix!

HyperSnap's the way to go for glide captures.  It works well here but I've not tried it under Windows XP.  Just remember to enable "Special Capture" on the Capture menu.

Like ps47 says, you must connect the passthrough and the monitor cable to the same Voodoo2.  The second Voodoo2 only has the internal SLI cable connecting it to the first Voodoo2.

But it is important to remember that one Voodoo2 is the "master" over the second.  The only way to detect the master is this -  If you get a blank screen on starting games when you first install the drivers try swapping the passthrough and monitor cable over to the other Voodoo2!

Voodoo2 Discussions / Voodoo2 Colors problem

Assuming you are using Windows 98 you could try the registry fix.  Be aware that fiddling with the registry can be dangerous.  You can backup the original key you are replacing by going to Start, Run and typing in regedit and clicking OK.  Then navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\3Dfx Interactive\Voodoo2 and make sure it is highlighted and then click the Registry menu and select Export Registry File.  Save the file somewhere known with a suitable name.

You can download the Quantum3D registry file from the URL below-
http://www.procerus.btinternet.co.uk/OB2X_3Dfx_Ref.reg

Just double-click it to merge it with the registry.  If it doesn't fix the issue then double-click the file you exported to restore your original settings.

Hope it works!

Voodoo2 Discussions / Voodoo2 Colors problem

Is the colour corruption a reddish or purple tinge?  I only ask because there is a memory timing issue with some Quantum3D cards that can be remedied with a registry fix.

Voodoo2 Discussions / Unable to capture screen
27 November 2003, 21:54:03
Under Windows 98 here I'm able to capture Red Baron 3D (with Full Canvas Jacket Superpatch not that that would make any difference) from my Voodoo2 SLI card with no problems.  I'm using the 3dfx 3.02.02 (final) reference drivers and HyperSnap DX5 with all settings at default except, as Nightbird says, enable Special Capture under Settings.  Then I use the Scroll Lock key to take a capture.

I use HyperSnap here with a good success rate.  What OS are you using LW_Hearse?  I mainly game on Windows 98.

There are certain specific games that don't seem to capture with HyperSnap but they're few and far between.

I'm with dainbramaged.  They're the ultimate Voodoo2s and are very desirable.  They work just the same as any Voodoo2 SLI on the 3dfx reference drivers (except for a memory-tuning registry hack).  And they look mean and business-like in a nice windowed case! :D
