Halo tells me, "This driver(amigamerlin)is known to have serious issues with this game".
I just picked up a Voodoo 5 5500 PCI from a buddy of mine, figured I'd play around with it and this is what I found. No more halo, all this sys specs are good.hmmmm
Sorry but at this moment Halo is an unsupported game by Voodoo cards and/or voodoo drivers. It is a title perfecly matches nVIDIA video hardware specs while it doesn't run well on ATI or other devices like these 3dfx.
Remember that Halo is a XBox game...
The reason why I even tried the Voodoo on Halo is because the MX400 was giving me lag.All setting were turned down low even and it just seemed to slow.Well my B-Day is coming up next week and my wife & mum are going in on getting me the 9600XT. Mass improvment over the MX400 which is just recently new due to the fact that my Voodoo 3 2000 after 5 years crapped out.
EDIT:
Is it very hard to flsh the BIOS of this Voodoo 5 5500?
Flashing the BIOS of a V5 gives little to no increase in performance. I don't even know what they're actually supposed *to* do.
a funny thing is that there's a screenshot of Halo on the voodoo5 box [8D]
this was before bungie was bought out by Microsoft. and as everyone knows we just got a ****ed up conversion from Xbox (very slow, two years late, ugly, and feels like a console fps [}:)])
flashing the BIOS is very simple (boot DOS and run the program)
I did that (BIOS 1.06 -> 1.18 modded) and noticed absolutely no difference [^]
it's useful for owners of voodoo4 MAC or voodoo5 MAC who want to use the card on their PC (with working DVI out)
