Title: What is this voodoo4?
Post by: osckhar on 29 October 2003, 14:08:34
Hi,
Somebody can say to me that model of voodoo4, corresponds this photo?

Can the photo correspond to voodoo4 4000?

p.d. The original voodoo4 4000 is thus?

Thank you very much!

This seems to me, to be an AGP4x V4 4500 Low Profile.
Low Profile cards were, and still are, made for mostly smaller form factors (Mini ATX, MicroATX, etc.) these cards were designed for small cases.
BTW, the second image does not work, tripod does not allow hotlinking.

QuoteBTW, the second image does not work, tripod does not allow hotlinking.

Then to my if that it works  (second image)

First, and the second image looks like much.  They seem to be the same
type of card...

Is the card on the first image yours? If so, does it have memory modules on the back? If so, I'm sticking with my first guess;
A Low Profile V4 4500 AGP4x.

A V4 4000 has 16MB divided over 8 chips*. The physical size of the memory would be smaller compared to a V4 4500 (32MB over 8 chips) or a V5 5500 (2 times 32MB over 8 chips). But they're the same size, so should there be memory on the back of the card then it's a 32MB card. Which is a V4 4500.

* all VSA-100 cards have their memory divided over 8 chips per graphics chip.

I have the same card, its a normal V4-4500 AGP, just in L-shape.
It has 32 MB Ram.
I guess these cards were the last ones designed by 3dfx and were used in OEMs...

It's the L card...also known as the "loser" card because of it's terrible performance and well, it's shape ( "L" ). Notice how the Radeon 9200 has a very similar shape and/or design...
