Post by: kahlos on 01 January 2006, 19:54:02
Hi
I'm new to the voodoo. Just got an old comp of my mate and i wanted to get it to run quake 3. It's a pentium 3 450 and has a voodoo 3 onboard graphics card. I wanna know what drivers to get and what tweaks and programs can make it run faster ? Please help!

i thought wow, no one responded, then realized he posted the OS 9 months later.

and here i am a year + later asking basicly the samething.

here's the deal. i had an old voodoo 3d card in an old 98 system. recently opened the case and took out the card. dropped it into this system to discover it's not supported. and then to discover that the company basicly went tits up some time back. then via the awesome hand of google, i found this site. i think i have downloaded everything i'll need, but thought i would ask anyway.

i got win XP home edition on 10GB hard-drive on an old ABIT-VP6 motherboard running 2 pentium III 1000 processors over-clocked to 1200 with 4 256mb sticks of sdram.

basicly i wanted a creature computer reminicent (sp?) of a frankenstien. LOL

i tried an old ATI video card in it first, but wasnt paying attention to it's temp and smoked it.

then i remembered the voodoo 3d card.

ok. now that i've given the life's story of my monster, feed me with info. i have to go to work soon so probably wo\nt get around to messing with this until tommorrow.

i'll check back for replies.

and i wont wait 9 months. LOL

oh yeah. it's PCI not AGP.

welp... i just now discovered that my card is not a voodoo 3...

it has a voodoo rush chipset. i noticed something was different when all of the cards i was seeing photos of had cooling fans. :(

i guess i am now on the quest for rush/xp compatible drivers.

still though.... if anyone has any suggestions!!!! mucho kudos!!!!

try here: http://www.falconfly.de/rush.htm
but I would be quite surprised if you were able to get more than 2d output from your card..backing up your system would probably be a good idea.
