I've been working on this problem for hours. I see where u guys can make the voodoo 5 work for WOW, but I can't figure it out. I've d/l the sfft alpha-32 driver, I think I installed it right, But it still says my card not supported. I tried the 3D-analyzer v234(don't really know how to set it up), it didn't help either.
My set up is; 800 mhz AMD Duron, 256 mgb sdram, Voodoo 5 5500 pci.
I need someone to walk me threw this. Thanx for any help I can get!
You know, it sux to pay $50 for a game that won't play!
It says card not supported and exits?
It worked fine for me with latest sfft alphas, are you sure you set up driver correctly?
I'm not sure at all. Can u give me a break down of how u installed it, then i'll know if i done it right
yes, It says card not supported & exits
You can install it either via display properties or device manager. After successful installation card should appear as "3dfx Voodoo Series".
when i install it at the device manager, i still shows as "3dfx voodoo5", I have narrowed it down to the folder that i unzipped the file to & installed from there, still didnt help. I'm doing something wrong in one of the steps, just dont know what
Well, I have it installed on my 5500 system and it works like a charm.
You can manually install the SFFT driver by:
1)unzipping it to a folder on your hard drive.
2) go into the folder were you unzipped the SFFT driver and copy and paste the 3dfxvs.dll into your c:\winnt\system32 and the 3dfxvsm.sys into your C:\winnt\system32\drivers folder (or xp's equivalent, I prefer Windows 2000 myself).
3) reboot your pc and you should be good to go !
Thanx a million!!! It works perfectly. I'm glad i run across this site, it's awesome that u guys help so many people out. Thanx again!
I see where you were wrong - "3dfx voodoo5" is the string Microsoft driver reports. If you chose update automatically and included sfft driver path in search windows anyway installed m$ driver because sfft one isn't whql signed. Unsigned drivers should be installed manually and windows also will warn you that driver isn't tested by whql. Anyways, now you've got it to work, congratulations!
