Title: SLI Frame count loss in CS v11 fusion pack/DOD
Post by: Chips on 01 June 2005, 10:33:16
Hi there,

I'm a real fan of HL and I've been getting some really nice consistent frame rates of 30-40 fps playing HL and CS 1.5 mod.

But when I try using the Fusion pack, or try and play mods like DOD, my frames plummet down to 4fps most of the time.

The only difference I can see is that the fusion pack and DOD mod use more textures.

Is the sudden drop due to texture memory management problems?

Is there anyone out there that can play DOD or use the v11 fusion pack??

I am using the Fastvoodoo 4.0 Gold XP drivers and using the updated mini-gl glide that came with it running @ 1024x768.  I've tried the MESA openGL driver, but that halves my frame rate in HL.

Further to this I'm pretty sure I know what the problem is...

It is a limit of texture memory on the boards because it doesn't only happen in this game, but any other game as well.

For example, running MDK2 with high textures slows it right down to 4fps, but using low textures it runs ok 20+fps.
