Title: Voodoo3 problem, probably Microsoft's evil DirectX
Post by: zmwworm on 17 December 2004, 19:20:37
Okay, I've had my computer crash whenever I play a 3D game that uses Directx, no matter which version of Directx, and DxDiag says everything's fine. I've helped the problem happen less often by disabling all unnessesary hardware. I recently got Warcraft III, which requires an 8mb V3, so I thought I'd just squeak by. When I start Warcraft III, every single polygon is untexeured, ussually just white and gray, and the cursor and all text are blocks of white. Turns out, according to DxDiag, that my card doesn't support AGP texuring, which doesn't make sense to me, since my card is PCI. Will a change of drivers help, and if so, which driver?

hmm what Operating System are you useing BTW, because if it's Windows 98SE I sincerly most recommend AmigaMerlin 2.9.

if You use Win2K pro then I'd go for AmigaMerlin 3.1 R1 they really rock.

anyway Win2K pro and Win98SE are the only OS'es that suit me, so I was thinking that you are useing either one of those.

if it isn't a driver issue then you could also have corrupted memoty modules or even a bad core. How do Glide and OpenGL games look like?
