Title: D3D PROGRESS?????????????!
Post by: JOE3000 on 01 May 2004, 12:04:35
Is there goin to be any D3D progress(bug fix) in 3dfx driver for Voodoo3.
Games like GTA3 are 2 years old and they work with Banshe&VSA 100 cards but not with Voodoo3.We have simular bug with Colin McRae2 that wont work with 3dfx 1.07's and works with 1.05 drivers.

Does anyone working on D3D?!

the 107 driver is OLDER than the 105's.....  just because the number is bigger it doesn't mean that the driver is better OR newer!

Hum, we are speaking here about the official 3dfx drivers ?
This is not only a story of number, the 1.07.00 is from the 22 nov 2000 and the 1.05.00 from the 4 jul 2000 so in theory the 1.05.00 is older than the 1.07.00.

- GTA3 was known for running with a Voodoo 3 and an Intel cpu using the 3dfx drivers 1.03.00 (the first for DirX7)
- Colin McRae2 was known also for running with a Voodoo 3 using the Omegacorner tweaked drivers (V3/4/5 Win9X/ME Omega Drivers 1.02 "Special" Drivers)

it seems that development runs very slow (if it's running). Maybe SFFT will change the situation with it's brand new drivers.. (i hope so)

Ther are new test drivers for V3/4/5 cards for Win2k/XP. Ther have been a number of fixes for all sorts of problems under win2k/XP. There are fixes for some serious V4/5 corruption problems, and also general corruption and stability fixes on all cards. GTA3 still doesn't work on V3 or indeed properly on V5's it doesn't work properly in default mode only in single chip mode. The problems with is seem to be down to assumptions made about the cards memory layout, there doesn't seem to be an obvious fix for them.
