Here's the latest Voodoo2 and Obsidian2 Glide Driver Kit published by Koolsmoky at
3dfxzone.it english
forums: now we give it more visibility so more
people can download and test it as well as submit us the own feedback. This package is basically a
driver for both reference 3dfx Voodoo2 graphics accelerators and Quantum3D Obsidian2 cards. It includes bleeding edge builds of 3dfx glide2x and glide3x drivers from glide.sourceforge.net as well as new Windows 2000 and XP miniport drivers.
So this kit allows to run glide2x and glide3x based applications on Windows 9x, Windows ME, Windows 2000 or Windows XP OS. Please note that for OpenGL based games we suggest to get Mesa for 3dfx Glide or Metabyte WickedGL or 3dfx MiniGL.
What is new?
The kit introduces:
Bug Fixing for memmap errors and desktop corruptions;
Optimizations for 3DNow! and MMX;
Added grStippleMode and grStipplePattern. Using Glide64, Mario will now do his dissolve trick properly;
Support for mismatched SLI.
It includes following new files:
Glide Driver Version (glide2x.dll): Sourceforge 2.56.0.46145 (beta);
Glide3 Driver Version (glide3x.dll): Sourceforge 3.3.0.46145 (beta);
Voodoo Graphics Windows Driver Version (fxgpio.sys and fxptl.sys): 4.3.0.1103 (beta).
Installation
Koolsmoky Voodoo2 and Obsidian2 Glide Driver Kit @ 27/12/2009
does not support standard installation procedure, that is by a setup
file.
Windows 2000 or XP users must execute a manual installation.
If Windows does not ask for a driver, they must install it choosing Update Video Card
Driver in Device Manager under
Windows Control Panel: then can reboot the system.
Of course, be sure to uninstall previous Voodoo2 driver before installing this kit. Windows
9x or ME users can use its Glide drivers simply installing the
(latest) reference 3dfx
Voodoo2 driver, then copying the glide2x.dll and glide3x.dll
native libraries from the
Koolsmoky Voodoo2 and Obsidian2 Glide Driver Kit @ 27/12/2009
to the folder at the path: C:\Windows\System.
For other info about
these steps and help
requests, please do not send emails to us but use support forums
for both english
and italian
languages. And please remember to include a description of your pc setup, OS, application version and specify if the application uses glide2 or glide3, etc...
Notes for Voodoo2 owners
To get an optimal hardware setup and/or before to install this release please consider that:
FX_GLIDE_SWAPINTERVAL = 0 will force VSYNC off. V2 SLI may have problems syncing the scanlines when VSYNC is off;
Alphablending dither subtraction is disabled by default. Set SSTH3_ALPHADITHERMODE = 3 to enable dither subtraction;
4x4 dither matrics is used when alphablending dither subtraction is enabled. Other wise it's always 2x2;
Set SSTV2_MISMATCHED_SLI = 1 for mismatched SLI support. This may not work due to differences in Voodoo2 board design. If you have problems try swapping the PCI slot order of the Voodoo2 board;
If the screen goes blank but you still hear the application running in the background, reconnect your display and pass-through cable to the second Voodoo2 or set SSTV2_SWAPBOARDS = 1.
Notes for Obsidian2 owners
Quantum3D Obsidian2 X-24, X-16, and similar SLI boards must have the following set.
SSTV2_FT_CLKDEL = 5;
SSTV2_TF0_CLKDEL = 7;
SSTV2_TF1_CLKDEL = 7 ;
SSTV2_TF2_CLKDEL = 7;
SSTV2_SLIM_VIN_CLKDEL = 3;
SSTV2_SLIM_VOUT_CLKDEL = 2;
SSTV2_SLIS_VIN_CLKDEL = 3;
SSTV2_SLIS_VOUT_CLKDEL = 2;
SSTV2_GRXCLK = 90 .
Thanks to...
From 3dfxzone.it arrives a lot of thanks to both our skilled programmers and all - public and private - beta testers: you are helping us to exceed time limits of Voodoo cards.
