What is it?
This
package is a test release that was published by Koolsmoky at
our english
forums: now we give it more visibility so more
people can download and test it. This
is basically a driver for 3dfx Voodoo2 classic 3D accelerators
and for Quantum3D Obsidian2 cards. Its native design allows
Voodoo2/Voodoo2 SLI configuration with Microsoft Windows 2000
and XP OSes but you can use some its files with Windows 98/ME
too (read the following rows to know as to do). It
contains Glide2x and Glide3x in beta version from
glide.sourceforge.net: the Voodoo Graphics Memory Mapper is beta
too.
What is new?
The kit includes:
Fixes for memmap errors and desktop corruptions;
Optimizations for 3DNow! and MMX;
Embedded (experimental) support for mismatched SLI.
So it extends Voodoo2 compatibility with some system featuring particular northbridge and graphic chip-set and Windows 2000/XP like OS. Besides, it adds more gaming speed in the other cases due to glide.sourceforge.net drivers.
Installation
Koolsmoky Voodoo2 Driver Test Kit
does not support standard installation procedure, that is by a setup
file: so Windows 2000/XP users must execute a manual installation.
If Windows does not ask for a driver, they must install it choosing Update Video Card
Driver in Device Manager under
Windows Control Panel: then can reboot the system.
Of course, be sure to uninstall previous Voodoo2 driver before installing this kit. Windows
9x/ME users can use its Glide drivers simply installing the
(latest) reference 3dfx
Voodoo2 driver, then copying the glide2x.dll and glide3x.dll
native libraries from the
Koolsmoky Voodoo2 Driver Test Kit
to the folder at the path: C:\Windows\System.

these steps and help
requests, please do not send emails to us but use support forums
for both english
and italian
languages.
Notes
To get an optimal hardware setup and/or before to install this release please consider that:
FFX_GLIDE_SWAPINTERVAL = 0 will force VSYNC off. V2 SLI may have problems syncing the scanlines when VSYNC is off;
Alphablending dither subtraction is disabled by default. Set FX_GLIDE_NO_DITHER_SUB = 1 to enable dither subtraction;
4bbp->16bbp 4x4 dither matrics is always forced to 2x2;
Set SSTV2_MISMATCHED_SLI = 1 for mismatched SLI support. This may not work due to differences in Voodoo2 board design. If you have problems try swapping the PCI slot order of the Voodoo2 boards;
If the screen goes blank but you still hear the application running in the background, reconnect your display and pass-through cable to the second V2 or set SSTV2_SWAPBOARDS = 1.
Notes for Obsidian2 owners
Quantum3D Obsidian2 X-24, X-16, and similar SLI boards must have the following set.
SSTV2_FT_CLKDEL = 5;
SSTV2_TF0_CLKDEL = 7;
SSTV2_TF1_CLKDEL = 7 ;
SSTV2_TF2_CLKDEL = 7;
SSTV2_SLIM_VIN_CLKDEL = 3;
SSTV2_SLIM_VOUT_CLKDEL = 2;
SSTV2_SLIS_VIN_CLKDEL = 3;
SSTV2_SLIS_VOUT_CLKDEL = 2;
SSTV2_GRXCLK = 90 .
Thanks to...
From 3dfxzone.it arrives a lot of thanks to both our skilled programmers and all - public and private - beta testers: you are helping us to exceed time limits of Voodoo cards.
Thank you.
