3.4 Session 2 Results Analysis
Comparative testings, when the two readers worked with a Compact Flash card and a USB 1.1 motherboard, show a marginal advantage for the Crucial's reader, though not superior than 1% (figure 8). The partial indices with a 512byte file were respectively 4663 op/min (39kb/s) and 4581 op/min (38kb/s) in reading and 172 op/min (1.4kb) in writing for both the readers. The writing performances with a 64Mb file were the same of the reading ones: in both the cases we got 1 op/min (1kb).
Instead, we found out a difference in the comparative testing with the SD card; here the Hi-Speed USB 12-in-1 Combinated Index is superior of 65% to the one measured with the Sitecom's Internal Media Dock (figure 9). The partial indices show this difference as well: Hi-Speed USB 12-in-1 performed 4616 op/min (38kb/s) against the 4183 op/min (36kb/s) of Media Dock in reading a 512byte file and 287 op/min (2.4kbs/s) against 221 op/min (1.8kb/s) in writing stage. With a 2Mb file (Sitecom's device wasn't able to work with a 64Mb file) we got respectively 26 op/min (887kb/s) against 6 op/min (205kb/s) in reading and 22 op/min (751kb) against 7 op/min (239kb/s) in writing.
Besides, the Crucial's reader shows itself very sensitive to the memory it is working with, the performances depend on the card speed plugged in it (figure 8 and figure 9), while the Internal Media Dock Combinated Index is constant in both the cases.
4.0 Conclusions
From the results we got in the session 1 we can see that Crucial's Hi-Speed USB 12-in-1, is able to assure performances both high and uniform with the latest platforms by Intel and AMD. At the same time, the reader was very able even working with older systems.
This makes it a very attractive product, so we can suggest it for all the people who wants a card reader that can assure very good performances in every condition of use, even working with different type computers.
And to this, as we said before, Hi-Speed USB 12-in-1 adds a winning style, with its design both functional and ergonomic, to the compatibility with all the flash memory cards on the market.
