AMD ha presentato ufficialmente la scheda video ATI Radeon HD 3870 for Mac & PC Edition (cfr. la foto seguente), soluzione che in accordo al produttore è "ottimizzata in via esclusiva per i sistemi Mac Pro di Apple". Basata sul processore grafico Radeon HD 3870, questa nuova video card è dotata di 512Mb di veloce RAM G-DDR4: l'ampiezza del bus di interfaccia tra il core grafico e la memoria on board è a 256-bit.

Le due uscite dual-link DVI permettono il controllo simultaneo di due display, il che rende questa Radeon idonea sia all'ambito consumer (multimedia e 3D Gaming in primis) che a quello business (promette un supporto di buon livello per le applicazioni come Aperture, Motion e Final Cut Studio).

La scheda ATI Radeon HD 3870 Mac & PC Edition sarà disponibile presso i rivenditori Mac di tutto il mondo a fine mese: il suo MSRP è pari a $219.
