Apple ha annunciato la disponibilità immediata dell'iPod U2 Special Edition, che rappresenta il risultato della collaborazione tra il produttore americano, il gruppo musicale U2 e Universal Music Group (UMG). Il dispositivo (cfr. foto seguente) appartiene alla quinta generazione degli iPod di Apple: essendo dotato di una capacità di memorizzazione pari a 30Gb è in grado di gestire fino a 7500 brani musicali, 25000 fotografie e filmati aventi una durata complessiva di oltre 75 ore.

Altre peculiarità di questo iPod sono il Click Wheel in rosso e la firma degli U2 in bella evidenza sull'involucro nero della periferica, pronta per l'uso in ambiente Windows 2000 e XP (con SP2) e Mac OS X version 10.3.9 o superiore. La connessione elettronica con il computer richiede una porta conforme con lo standard USB 2.0.

The new U2 iPod is based on the fifth generation 30GB iPod and holds up to 7,500 songs, 25,000 photos or over 75 hours of video and features a distinctive, all-black stainless steel enclosure, red Click Wheel and custom engraving of U2 band member signatures.
